A gummy smile is when more of the gum tissue is visible than you would normally like when smiling. It can be caused by several factors, including the movement of the upper lip, tooth position, gum proportions or the way your smile muscles work.

💉 HOW CAN A GUMMY SMILE BE TREATED?

For some clients, anti-wrinkle treatment can be used to relax the muscles that lift the upper lip. This can reduce how high the lip rises when smiling, helping to create a more balanced and natural-looking smile

✨ The aim isn’t to stop you smiling — it’s about subtle muscle relaxation and creating a more harmonious, balanced appearance.

💉 Which muscles are treated?

For a gummy smile, anti-wrinkle treatment is typically placed into the levator muscles of the upper lip, particularly the levator labii superioris alaeque nasi (LLSAN) and, depending on the individual anatomy and smile pattern, the levator labii superioris and zygomaticus minor may also contribute.
