The Wonky Garden, an award‑winning community garden in Widnes, has expanded its work supporting wellbeing, thanks to funding for a shared project with the neighbouring Men’s Shed group.
With recent funding from Halton Housing, and Project Giving Back Together, Wonky Garden at Ditton Community Centre has transformed an underused area into a welcoming space for people to relax, connect and get involved. With beautiful plants from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 🌸 and new seating installed, it’s now a place where creativity, conversation and community come together.
Working side by side, Wonky Garden volunteers and Men’s Shed members are building something really special, supporting people facing loneliness, isolation and health challenges through gardening, carpentry and shared projects 🤝

Domestic Abuse: Speak Out, Seek Support
As a member of the Halton Housing Partnership, we’re raising awareness of domestic abuse during the World Cup and highlighting the importance of support for those affected locally.
Domestic abuse remains one of the most under-reported crimes in the UK, and in Halton it affects thousands of people each year. We also know that incidents can increase during major football tournaments.
Domestic abuse is never ok. No result on the pitch should ever lead to harm at home.
If you or someone you know is affected, please remember support is available — you are not alone. 💜
📞 National Domestic Abuse Helpline: 0808 2000 247
📞 Men’s Advice Line: 0808 801 0327

📞 Victim Support: 08 08 16 89 111
In an emergency, always call 999.
As a landlord, we’re also here to help — please contact your Neighbourhood Officer for support.

What a fantastic day on Afton last week, as residents, partners and colleagues came together for another successful Spruce Up Your Streets event.
Our Environmental teams had already been out preparing the area, but there was still plenty to do. Thanks to a amazing turnout, every job was tackled with real energy and enthusiasm.
The impact:
🗑️ 2 skips filled with unwanted household items
🛍️ 20 bags of rubbish cleared
🚶♂️ Pathways edged and improved
🌿 11 wheelbarrows of green waste removed
🚚 Fly-tipping cleared
A huge thank you to AKM Homes, the Youth Justice Service, and our brilliant colleagues behind the scenes who helped make the day such a success 👏
