The goal wasn’t to add more lightness yet — it was to soften and rebalance previously placed highlights so the colour flowed more seamlessly and looked more expensive overall.

Balancing light and depth is a huge part of the HollywoodColourBlend® technique. It isn’t random placement — it’s measured carefully using mathematical ratios to make sure there are even amounts of lowlights and highlights flowing throughout the hair.

We measure the back, sides and front separately so the colour lays symmetrical from every angle, creating softness, balance and harmony through the entire blend.

Today was all about correcting and rebalancing the existing colour first. Next appointment, I’ll then go back in and add her new highlights using this same placement method so everything grows out seamless, soft and beautifully blended from root to ends ✨

She came in feeling far too yellow and over-warm, with the colour sitting flat against her natural hair and no softness through the blend.

What many people don’t realise is that not every transformation needs heavy bleach or endless highlights. Sometimes the most beautiful results come from understanding tone, controlled lifting, and working with the natural base — not against it ✨

For this transformation, I used careful blending and strategic base breaking to softly shift and diffuse the warmth around her virgin hair, creating a much more seamless transition into the blonde.

I wanted to keep her in that expensive warm-neutral space — not overly cool, not brassy, just soft, balanced and natural-looking. The original tone was simply sitting too warm and too yellow, so it needed carefully naturalising and refining.

The deepest point always stays closest to the root, which is what gives the colour longevity. As her natural hair grows through, it will melt effortlessly back into the blend rather than creating a harsh regrowth line.

This is where true colour artistry comes in… subtle adjustments, precision tone work, and understanding how colour should evolve beautifully over time 🤍
