Brands who say ‘reduces drying time by xyz’?

Here’s why we don’t.

We looked into what it actually takes to test absorbency and drying rate properly, and it’s not as simple as a before-and-after weigh-in.

Two independent testing organisations and a university leading the way in textiles testing quoted us upwards of £5,000 to do it properly. And that’s without testing on real hair, or on real heads. We couldn’t justify that spend for one statistic.

So we surveyed our customers instead.

92% told us they’ve noticed a reduction in drying time since using a Good Wash Day hair wrap.

*We don’t know if brands who quote precise figures have performed these tests. All we know is that we were surprised by the technicalities and the costs involved.

What does your haircare actually cost you?

It was time for an updated, rebranded origin story post.

It’s been five and a half years since I started Good Wash Day, aged 51! It’s never too late, and we’re never too old.

It’s a cliche, but I try to share the highs, the lows, and everything in between. I’ll never pretend founder life is all sunshine and rainbows. Because it’s not. It’s important to share the reality. And in the same way that other founders sharing it 𝘢𝘭𝘭 helps me feel better, I hope to make the founders who follow me feel better too.

So thanks for following along on the fair weather days, and through the storms.

When I was looking for a hair-kind towel, I couldn’t find the type of product I wanted to buy.

I thought I couldn’t be the only one. So I started thinking about my ideal product. Obviously performance was key. But also the impact on people and planet.

From fabric, to manufacturing, to packaging, to supporting small charities.

It is not the easiest, or simplest way to approach running a business, but these are my values.
