✨ Does everyone need a serum? 🤔

The short answer... No.

Serums are one of the most talked about skincare products, but they’re not an essential step for everyone. A good cleanser, toner, moisturiser and SPF are the foundation of a good skincare routine. Everything else should be based on what your skin actually needs.

So, who does benefit from a serum?

💧 Dry or dehydrated skin: A hydrating serum can help draw water into the skin and improve comfort and glow.

✨ Fine lines and loss of firmness: Look for serums designed to support collagen production and improve skin elasticity.

🌿 Pigmentation or uneven skin tone: Brightening serums can help reduce the appearance of dark spots and create a more even complexion.

🌹 Sensitive or compromised ski: Barrier supporting and calming serums can help strengthen the skin and reduce redness.

🩵 Oily or blemish-prone skin: Lightweight balancing serums can help regulate oil production and support clearer skin.

And who might not need one?

If your skin is healthy, balanced, comfortable and you’re not trying to address a specific concern, you may not need a serum at all. A simple, consistent routine can be exactly what your skin needs.

The key thing to remember is this...

👉 Every serum has a specific job.

A serum isn’t just an extra product to add because everyone else is using one. It should be chosen to target a particular skin concern and complement the rest of your routine.

This is why I never recommend the same serum to everyone. Whether we’re looking at hydration, brightening, calming, skin ageing or blemishes, the right serum should be matched to your skin’s needs, not the latest trend.

✨ I DID IT! ✨

Today I officially passed my VTCT Level 3 Anatomy, Physiology & Pathology exams! 🎉

After 3 months of studying around running my business, family life and two very busy children, I’m incredibly proud to have reached this milestone.

I’ve been determined to build the strongest foundations possible because I truly believe that understanding the body in depth will make me an even better facial therapist and skin professional. Every body system, every late-night revision session and every spare moment spent studying has been worth it.

Today was the final hurdle...
📚 Exam 1: 86 questions with a 90% pass mark
📚 Exam 2: 82 questions with a 92% pass mark

Safe to say my brain has had a serious workout! 😂

It’s been a long time since I last sat exams. Back then life was definitely a little simpler and came with far fewer responsibilities! 🤣

Last night, Sally and I hosted our very first Skincare & Colour Workshop, and what a wonderful group of ladies we had. 💜

The evening was all about taking a little time for ourselves, learning how healthy, glowing skin and the right colours can work together to help you look and feel your best.

It was so lovely chatting all things skincare, sharing tips to achieve radiant, colour-ready skin, and then seeing everyone’s faces light up as they discovered their personal colour palette and makeup shades. Watching each person come to life in their best colours was such a joy!
