What is a positive aspiration? 🩸💉

When injecting dermal filler, I may gently pull back on the syringe before injecting. This is called aspiration.

If blood appears in the syringe (a positive aspiration), it's actually a good thing—it tells me I've identified a blood vessel before injecting, allowing me to reposition and continue safely.

☀️ During warmer weather, blood vessels naturally dilate (become wider), which can make a positive aspiration more likely. That's why careful technique and patient safety are so important all year round.

Aspiration is just one of the many safety measures I use alongside detailed knowledge of facial anatomy, slow injection techniques and continual assessment throughout your treatment.
