I’ve been absolutely overwhelmed by everyone’s kindness and generosity this year. Gifts and tips are never expected, but they’re truly appreciated — thank you all so much.

After a wonderfully busy December in the salon, I’m well and truly wiped out… but I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m now enjoying a few precious days away with my family for Christmas.

Merry Christmas to all my amazing clients and my incredible colleagues — thank you for another fantastic year ❤️

🚨 Update from Salon 147 🚨

Last night at around 10.30pm, the old YMCA building next door to the salon caught fire.

It was very severe, with streets closed and nearby houses evacuated. It was incredibly distressing to witness the building our salon is in go up in flames. I stayed on site until around 2am when the fire was finally under control.

We are so grateful for the quick actions of Scottish Fire and Rescue and Police Scotland. They kept us well informed at the scene right through the early hours.

From what we can see, the fire hasn’t made it into the salon, and we will be able to assess any potential damage later today. It looks like we’ve been very lucky.

Gemma, Katie and Louise will keep in touch with clients if there are any changes, but all being well, we hope to be open as normal this week.

Tonight I had the absolute pleasure of watching The Real Housewives of the Zombie Apocalypse at the Edinburgh Fringe—an original musical written, directed and performed by my incredibly talented brother Hugh and his amazing partner John Paul (along with a fantastic cast!).

I got to contribute behind the scenes by helping out with the wigs for the show 💇‍♀️💫. Getting to be a small part of such a brilliantly produced show, was such an honour.

The music, the lyrics, the performances—everything was amazing and West End-worthy! —there was barely an empty seat in the house!

Huge congratulations to Clydebuilt Theatre Company ❤️

The diary is currently fully booked for colour appointments until mid-July, and only 2 cut and blow-dry spaces left in June. 💇‍♀️💫

I was in hospital today and had a small procedure done (absolutely nothing to worry about)

Remembering a Beautiful Soul ❤️

It’s with a very heavy heart that I share the sad news of the passing of a client I had the privilege of knowing for many years, Antonia Deerin.

The news has truly shaken me. She was one of the kindest, most gentle souls I’ve ever met, and I always looked forward to her appointments—the easy conversations, the laughter, and the moments of reflection we shared.

As hairdressers, we form deep connections with our clients. We’re there for their milestones, their struggles, and their joys. It’s more than just cutting hair; it’s a bond built over years of trust and shared stories. Losing a client isn’t just losing a customer—it’s losing a friend, a part of our salon family.

My thoughts are with her family and friends during this heartbreaking time. May she rest in peace, and may her warmth and kindness be remembered always ❤️

I'm returning to work tomorrow after enjoying some time off over new year.
This year's diary is filling fast, with limited availability for January and February.

During December the salon is even busier than normal, and we’re working extra hours and days with a 𝟏𝟎𝟎% 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐫𝐲 to ensure everyone looks their best for Christmas. To help us keep things running smoothly and avoid any disruptions:

Temporary traffic lights and heavy traffic have caused a few clients to be up to 30 mins late over the last couple of weeks.

⏰ 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 Unfortunately, if you’re very late, we may not be able to complete your service, as this has a huge impact on other clients’ appointments for the rest of the day.

We understand things happen, but your punctuality helps us give every client the service they deserve
