As many of you know, my uncle Gippy has dementia. Over the years, I’ve watched this cruel disease slowly take parts of him away — his memories, his words, and sometimes even his recognition of the people who love him most. There are days when he looks at me and doesn’t know who I am anymore. 💔

I help my mum care for him — visiting, making sure he has what he needs, helping with his washing and ironing — and though it can be hard, I wouldn’t change it for the world. Because deep down, he’s still the same Gippy who’s always been part of my life.

Dementia doesn’t just steal memories — it changes families. It brings heartbreak, patience, and love in equal measure. And it’s something that far too many people are facing right now.

That’s why I’ve decided to take on a sponsored swim to raise money for Dementia UK
I am swimming for my uncle and for every family touched by this devastating disease.
