Story: My best friend gave her puppy away a few days ago, and last night the adopter sent her a video. She saw the puppy sitting there looking so pitiful—even though the dog food was on the floor, it wouldn’t eat a bite.
My friend stared at the video for nearly ten minutes, tears welling up in her eyes. She told me that back at home, this puppy used to follow her around everywhere, and would go crazy at the sight of dog food—nothing like how listless it is now.
In truth, she had no choice but to give the puppy up. She just got a new job that requires working overtime every day; she gets home in the middle of the night, and can barely manage to feed herself, let alone walk and feed the dog. She’d thought finding a family with more free time would let the puppy live a better life.
Now seeing the puppy like this, her heart is torn to pieces. She wants to take it back, but is afraid she still won’t have time to accompany it. Yet she can’t bear to leave it as it is. She kept replaying the video—there the puppy was, ears drooping, staring straight at the door as if waiting for her.
