PRESENTATION MATTERS. ✨
You can create the most beautiful nail set, but if the final photo doesn’t show your work properly, people scrolling through Instagram will never see the quality and precision behind it.
Before taking your final pictures, pay attention to the details.
Clean all dust from the nails, cuticles, fingers and underneath the free edge. Moisturise the hands and cuticle area, but avoid leaving the skin looking excessively oily.
Then think about your photography: use clean, controlled lighting, choose a minimal neutral background and remove anything distracting from the frame.
And don’t take only one picture.
Photograph your work from different angles — top view, side profile, front/free-edge view and close-up. Each angle shows something different: architecture, apex, lower arch, thickness, symmetry and cuticle application.
For detailed shots, I love using a macro lens. It shows everything — which is exactly why your preparation needs to be immaculate. 👀
Your photo is the final step of your service.

FREE-EDGE LIFTING? 👀 The problem may be in your finishing technique.
A beautiful square nail isn’t created only from the top — what happens underneath matters too.
I leave my final length correction until after the top coat. This means I’m not repeatedly filing the same area throughout the service, saving time while creating a sharp, crisp free edge.
By opening the thickness of the free edge, I can properly control the architecture and make sure the free edge is strong, straight and correctly structured.
Then I work underneath with my e-file to:
✓ Refine excess thickness
✓ Create a clean lower arch
✓ Keep the free edge strong without unnecessary bulk
✓ Remove remaining natural nail underneath where appropriate
✓ Create a cleaner, more aesthetic finish
✓ Reduce independent flexing of the natural free edge that can contribute to separation
The natural nail is more flexible than hard gel. When the natural free edge remains underneath and moves independently, it can contribute to separation between the natural nail and enhancement.
And let’s not forget aesthetics — natural nail underneath can become yellowish and take away from that clean, professional finish.
Less repetitive filing. Correct architecture. Clean lower arch. Strong free edge. Better retention.
