So that is it folks. Dave has swept the floor for the last time and Skans is officially closed. Thank you to everyone for your custom over the years, and your kind wishes for Brian and David's retirement.

Dave had a brief chat with Radio 5 this afternoon (at about 56 minutes in). Dave would like to point out that he does NOT have a mullet. A mullet is cut short at the front and left long at the back. Dave's locks, as regulars to the shop will know, have not been cut at all for 43 years! Just goes to show you should always take what you hear in the media with a pinch of salt!

Skans barbers set to close after 170 years in city as final barber retires Skans will shut its doors after 172 years when barber David Smith retires this month.

If you want to make sure your new barber keeps your hair as you like it, get someone to take some photos front , back and sides just after you've had it done.

Due to some health care appointments, Skans will not be open on Tuesday 7th September, and will be open for business as usual on Wednesday - Saturday this week.
