It’s been a long, beautiful, bumpy, soul-stretching journey… and today, I’m finally ready to share something big.

Over the years, Schmoo Skincare has been more than a brand to me—it’s been my foundation, my training ground, and the place where I learned to trust my hands, my vision, and my desire to heal skin naturally. I’ve grown with it, cried over it, pushed through self-doubt because of it, and celebrated incredible wins thanks to it.

But growth has a way of calling you forward.
And for the last year, it’s been calling loudly.

So today, I’m beyond proud to announce that Schmoo Skincare is transforming into something even more “me,” something rooted in everything I’ve learned, loved, and poured my heart into…

How do I know if I have Rosacea?

You may have Rosacea if you experience the following symptoms on your cheeks, forehead, chin or nose:

A permanent rash/redness/blush
Broken blood vessels in the skin becoming visible
Small pink or red spots, bumps and pus-filled pimples
Thick skin on the nose
Swelling around the eyes
Burning and stinging sensations (especially when using water or skincare products)

Solutions
Try to be extra gentle when washing, and avoid harsh or abrasive scrubs. I’d suggest looking at very natural skincare products without the harsh chemicals.

Our current facial scrubs are very gentle, non abrasive scrubs perfect for skin sensitivity particularly the Honey & Oatmeal due to the honey being a natural calming antiseptic.

I’ve just produced a new formula for a Cleanser & Toner full of Natural Rose essential oils which are really calming for redness & sensitivity, the ideal solution to cleanse a skin prone to Rosacea.. 🌱

MUSHROOMS FOR SKIN?

1. Boosts collagen production
By now, most of us know how important collagen is to our skin. A protein that is responsible for your bones, hair, muscles and skin, collagen helps to keep the skin hydrated, firm and plump.
Tremella mushrooms have been found to increase type I collagen - which is by far the most abundant type of collagen in the body.

2. Reduces water loss from the skin
When it comes to skin hydration, preventing water loss is essential. Adding hydration is a must, but that’s not much use if your skin can’t hold onto the moisture that’s been added.
Tremella mushrooms help to lock in your skin’s moisture by protecting the skin’s natural barrier. The ruffled mushroom is able to prevent water loss from the skin as the polysaccharides in the mushroom form a flexible film on the skin. This film helps to lock in moisture, smooth the skin’s appearance and make it more elastic.

3 Has anti-inflammatory properties
Skin inflammation can be caused by allergens, irritants or existing medical conditions, and is considered an immune response. This often materialises as redness, itching, swelling, dryness or pain and can be uncomfortable to deal with.
Some skin conditions such as psoriasis, rosacea and acne can lead to persistent inflammation and troublesome skin. That’s why many people opt for skin care with anti-inflammatory benefits, or ensure their diet is as anti-inflammatory as possible.

For those of you new here on Instagram, those that don’t know me, l’m Fiona Otley founder of Schmoo Skincare & Spa where I’m all about bringing you the best in skincare, personalised treatments, and beauty tips.

My story began 35 years ago when I trained as a Spa Therapist at the prestigious Ragdale Health Spa.

I immediately fell in love with the various treatments and products that were offered and soon realised that the Spa Industry was my passion.

My journey in the Industry has taken me around the world working in 5 star hotels in Australia and Bermuda and many years working on the cruise ships working with top celebrities.

When I finally arrived back in the Uk I realised there was a need for Natural products & treatments that were environmentally friendly, sustainable and of course results driven.

All Schmoo treatments and products were designed by myself. Our Schmooziers are trained by myself who are committed to making sure they impart glowing skin and a rested more relaxed feeling to anyone who visits us here at Schmoo in the Country.

I know how important it is feeling good about yourself and being comfortable in your own skin.
