Come and join my charity Pilates class on Monday 12th October 6.30pm to support this great charity!😀

28/09/2026

Hi guys

I’m hosting a charity Pilates class on the 12th October at Manor Hill House Weddings & Events🧡

Instead of charging for the class, I’m asking for a donation of whatever you’d like to give, with all donations going to Women for Women International - UK.

They support women affected by war and conflict, helping them rebuild their lives through education, practical skills and opportunities to earn an income. It’s a cause I’m really happy to be supporting.
The class is relaxed, mixed ability and beginners are very welcome — and there’ll be a complimentary drink & canapés afterwards 🥂

All the details are on the flyer below. Spaces are limited, so please use the link to book if you’d like to come along!
Or contact me for any other info….

Fab week with some lovely clients! Here’s some things I got up to this week amongst regular maintenance sessions….

🐶Class planning with Darcy!

💪1:1 Pilates session for a client that was referred to do Pilates by her physio to improve pelvic floor function and general strength so she can get back to walking longer distances (she’s made huge improvements and is looking amazing!)

🏃‍♀️Soft Tissue treatment for a hyper mobile pilates client who loves running and cycling but is struggling with knee arthritis, back pain and hamstring/calf pain.

🤸‍♀️All my group classes in Stamford Bridge, Bromyard and Tenbury looking super! Can you believe one of the ladies in the pictures is 87yrs and showing us all how it’s done💪

👫Then to finish the week a couples pilates session this afternoon, lady is 6 weeks post meniscus knee op and husband is trying to increase his strength and stability for his impeding double knee replacement🦿

🐴Finishing the week with foal cuddles at a clients home🫶

Happy weekend everyone xx

Horrible outside today….I nearly took off driving up to Bromyard this morning!

But a great day teaching, here’s my 8.30am class working through some extension. Fab for getting that posterior chain activation as well as catching that sneaky Serratus anterior(with some cueing!)

Starting with our swan dive🦢 to get those deep neck flexors activating before progressing onto our cobra🐍 with some variations in between for every level! Keeping the cues short and sweet meant all these lovely ladies felt this in their glutes and not their lower back🤸‍♀️

If the exercise does not work for the rider or the horse, there is permission to change it.

Exercises are tools, not rules.

In movement and motor learning, the focus has shifted away from reproducing a “correct” shape and toward achieving a meaningful outcome. The purpose of an exercise is never the exercise itself. It is what the exercise is meant to develop, whether that is feel, coordination, range of motion, responsiveness, or a new movement option.

Pedagogy is the study of teaching and facilitating learning. Good pedagogy prioritizes understanding over compliance, experience over repetition, and adaptability over rigid application.

It doesn’t ask, “Can the rider perform the exercise?” instead we should ask, “Is the exercise supporting learning?”

When an exercise creates tension, frustration, or awkwardness, it is no longer serving its goal. In those moments, insisting that the rider conform to the exercise can block learning. The nervous system does not organize efficient movement under strain or confusion.

Exercises may be effective in principle, but they are not always appropriate for every rider in their current state. When the physical demands of a task exceed a rider’s available range of motion or coordination, the learning objective is often lost. Thoughtful modification preserves the intention of the exercise while supporting the rider’s ability to engage without strain.

Good teaching adapts the exercise to the human and the horse in front of us. We all bring different structures, histories, and movement capacities. Shaping the rider to the exercise often leads to compensation. Shaping the exercise to the rider allows for better learning.

If the outcome you are seeking is better feel, clearer communication, or more fluid movement, the path there should invite exploration, not force compliance.

Adaptation is not a lack of discipline. It is skilled pedagogy.

If the exercise does not yet fit the body, we have full permission to modify.
