While Equery (EMS) continues in the UAE with the amazing 🫶🏼, I’m now based in Sussex in the UK and I’m ready to build again from the ground up 💪🏻

Starting over isn’t easy, but if I could do it in a foreign country, I know I can do it again in my home country. 🏡💖

What’s the difference?

💆🏽‍♀️ Massage focuses on the muscles
🕸️ Myofascial release works with the fascia - the connective tissue around the muscles

Combining both during a session provides the best results, especially for horses in regular work 🐴

Is your horse feeling tight or sore? Watch out for these 3 signs:

2️⃣ Reduced stride or stiffness (especially on one side)

This is handsome guy was on box rest, during the course of the Equery sessions, which he was having 3 times a week. So all that muscle you now see?

“My Warmblood, Duchesse DZ, who is now competing successfully in Australia, was under the regular care of Katherine during her time under my ownership in the UAE.

Duchesse and I were competing regularly in showjumping. Duchesse had very regular sports massages from Katherine to ensure she was always in tip top shape for competition.

Duchesse always loved her massage sessions with Katherine, she would be completely relaxed and feel lovely to ride in between her sessions. It’s like she knew that if she had any tightness or discomfort, Katherine would soon release that tension for her and she’d be feeling brand new in no time.

I completely trust Katherine with the care of my horses and recommend her services to anyone willing to take care of their horses the way they take care of us. It’s the least we can do to repay them”.

Saddle fit ❗️

As an Equine Sports Therapist, saddle fit assessment was a huge part of our study.

We are no way certified to re-flock / flock, change the gullets, but we CAN assess the saddle and know the basis of what is a good saddle and what is not.

Being able to notice this, we can advise and help to the best that we can to make your horse as comfortable as possible, until a saddle fitter is able to come and visit your horse.

I have listed only a few of behavioral changes you might feel / see when on the ground or riding.

There is plenty of information online that can also allow you, as a horse owner to understand more about ill-fitting saddles and the effects it can have on your horse’s performance.

One of the most common things I notice here, is owners loving to have their saddle so far forward, on top of the shoulders 🙈 I mean, hats off to the horses for being very honest and allowing that! Completely restricting shoulder movement! You have a whole rib cage to be able to support a saddle 🙈

The next two slides you will be able to see an unbalanced saddle. Where the two red lines cross, is where the centre of gravity will be, when riding; creating the pressure of the riders weight to be on the horses lower back.

The second photo, you are able to see, by adding a half pad that has foam inserts (inserted into the back of the pad only), it has lifted the saddle up and has changed the center of gravity, now creating balance and an even weight distribution across the saddle.
