Why does microblading always look so bold on day one… and then soften so much after healing? Right after your appointment, your brows will appear darker, bigger and more defined than expected. This is completely normal, temporary and so the process needs to be trusted. If you are leaving your appointment loving the colour of your brows then they will almost definitely heal lighter than desired. Brows DO need to look bolder and darker than you would ideally want to allow for the fade that happens during healing. Here’s why: **Fresh pigment sits on the surface** Immediately after microblading, the pigment is still sitting in the upper layers of the skin, this makes the color look much deeper and more intense. **Your skin is in healing mode** As your skin begins to heal, it forms a thin protective layer (like a light scab). This can make your brows look even darker for a few days. **Natural exfoliation softens the color** Once healing progresses, your skin gently sheds that top layer. As it does, some excess pigment is lifted away—revealing a softer, more natural result underneath. **True color settles in** After about 4–6 weeks, your brows settle into their final shade, which is typically 30–50% lighter than day one. The goal isn’t to create bold brows —it’s to create beautifully natural looking ones once healed.
