UNDERSTANDING BALAYAGE
I believe balayage is now used as a term by clients who are wanting the look that is achieved and associated with freehand painting, that soft root blend that grows out seamlessly. However, technically the majority of my clients who ask for balayage, get foils and that is because they’re starting point and desired result don’t align with what would be achieved if I were to use traditional balayage techniques on them. Getting the result you’re after is far more important to me than sticking to how a service ‘should’ be carried out 💕

FORMULATING A COPPER
I love the versatility of a copper, there is such a broad spectrum of what tone and intensity can be achieved, much like there’s a wide variety of tones to a brunette or blonde.
So here’s my key elements to creating a vivid copper:
• Don’t forget GOLD - gold reflects light creating shine and intensity
• Add a drop of RED - a tiny dash of pure red adds the drama to the formula giving it that instant oomph
• Direct dyes - give it a boost at the backwash by applying a direct dye after washing off the tint

2016 TREND
Here’s what my past 10 years have looked like outside of hairdressing. Ticked off a fair few things to be fair, tropical diseases included. Don’t mean to brag but who else has bagged themselves a dose of typhoid even after being vaccinated?

BLONDING SESSIONS
Have a collection of afters from just some of my recent blonding appointments. I’m loving the range of tones ladies are embracing now with their blonde locks, honey is back and the ash, ash, ASH seems to be taking a backseat

FREEHAND BALAYAGE
Freehand painting is the absolute bomb if you’re inspo photo lines up nicely with your starting point. I absolutely love doing this service and honestly I want to do more of it. The lift is soft but impactful, the blend is proper blendy and it’s just such an elegant finish.
If you fancy having your development look a little like this then ping me over your hair vision and your current look and we’ll get figuring out what service is best for you 💕

BLONDING TALK
Did you realise the length of your hair will effect how long the colour of your hair feels ‘fresh’ for? If you have a bob style cut or shorter it is likely you’ll feel that your hair has lost its brightness sooner than that of someone with longer hair. This is because as your hair grows, that regrowth will take up a larger percentage of the length you have.
If you have a bob, the underneath of your hair may only be 3 or 4 inches long, so if you have an inch of regrowth and then have a half head & cut, the underneath isn’t having the colour lifted up but some of the brightness will be getting cut out. If an inch is chopped off that leaves you with 1 inch of your natural at the root and 2-3 inches of the previous foil work.
Does this make sense or has that come out as complete waffle?
