🧪Why Acetone Is Used for Removal🧪

Acetone is not necessarily “bad” for your nails it’s simply a solvent that breaks down product efficiently.

When used correctly and for the right amount of time, it removes gel or acrylic without excessive force and isn’t as harmful as you might think.

Damage usually comes from picking, scraping, overfilling or rushing the process not from acetone itself🥲

This is my clients second time ever having BIAB from converting from acrylics, her first appointment we went with a nice neutral base colour to focus on length & health.

💨Why Your Nails Grow at Different Speeds💨

Nail growth facts

Not all nails grow at the same rate.

Your dominant hand often grows slightly faster due to increased blood flow from regular use, everyone always has a bigger hand too!
Hormones, diet, stress, and seasons can also affect growth speed and health of your nails!

The Average growth is around 2–3mm per month, which is why maintenance every 2–3 weeks matters most.

A combination of genetics, blood circulation, age, and physical activity levels (trauma) can also impact growth rates!

Generally, nails on the dominant hand and longer fingers grow faster due to increased stimulation, while younger, healthier individuals with higher metabolic rates experience quicker, more consistent nail growth.

😳Why Picking or Peeling Is So Damaging😳

Removal habits

Peeling off gel or acrylic doesn’t just remove product - it removes layers of your natural nail.

Enhancements bond tightly to the nail plate during our prep process. When they are pulled off, they take keratin layers with them, leaving the nail thin and compromised.

If your nails feel weak after a set, peeling is often the reason and when you come to me and say “it fell off” and you are the only client who has had any issue, I know 9 times out of 10 that you have popped it off! 🤓

Safe removal protects future growth, when you are picking, biting, messing and fiddling with your nails you are breaking the bond that I created and dare I say throwing your own money away, you are causing a further issue of damage. Even the slightest “budge” that you cause can affect nail health! That’s why it’s so important not to fiddle with them!

Very long nails require balance & correct structure and clients who understand how to wear them.

Typing, gym workouts, childcare, and hands-on jobs all affect what length is realistic everyone’s day-to-day lifestyle is different!

The strongest set is the one designed around your daily life, having the correct shape and length help this problem be minimalistic!

I always try advise the best lenghth and shape to suit you in all aspects both cosmetically and practically, everyone is different to cater for their needs! ❤️
