Not a post that I want to write... But lately, I've had quite a few cancellations due to clients having to tighten their budgets.

And honestly, I completely understand.

I'm incredibly grateful to every single person who chooses to support my business and include my services in their monthly budget. It never goes unnoticed, and I appreciate every appointment, recommendation, share, and kind word.

The reality is that the cost of living is becoming increasingly difficult for so many people. Most of us aren't budgeting because we want to- we're budgeting because we have to. As a country, we've reached a point where many people are having to choose essentials and survival over the little things that help us feel good, whether that's getting your nails done, your hair done, having a massage, getting a tattoo, or simply treating yourself to something you enjoy.

Unfortunately, small businesses and sole traders are feeling the impact of this every day, and I'm one of them.

I'm at a point where I need to seriously think about what comes next for my business. I've looked at my pricing and asked myself how I can make things more affordable, but the truth is that my prices are already as low as I can realistically make them. If anything, with rising costs, they should probably be higher.

I've tried to create opportunities such as discounted content days, where clients receive a reduced-price treatment in exchange for allowing me to create marketing content. Even then, I'm finding it difficult to fill appointments.

I've invested in marketing, training, education, products, and growing my business, and despite trying every avenue available, it's still proving incredibly challenging.

I work on a busy street just outside York city centre alongside several express nail bars. I know there will always be a place for those businesses, but what I offer is very different.

I work one-to-one with every client. I take my time. I use reputable professional brands. I'm fully qualified, insured, and continually invest in further training. I understand the products I use, anatomy and physiology, and I hold myself to the highest standards when it comes to hygiene, safety, and the quality of my work.

All I'm asking is that, where possible, you consider supporting independent beauty professionals and small businesses. Your support genuinely makes a difference and helps keep skilled, passionate professionals doing what they love.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be taking some time to think about the future of my little beauty business and what that might look like.

I'm genuinely gutted to be writing this. I've always wanted to expand my days and offer more availability, but that can only happen if the demand is there.

Hi everyone!

Just an announcement to say that the private hospital have called me and as there is a cancellation, they are bringing my surgery forward to Tuesday 23rd June.

All clients who have been booked in that week have been contacted for a reschedule.

I aim to be back in the salon on Tuesday 30th on reduced hours (this will be totally depending on how I feel, If I need to take more time, then I will) and you will all be kept in the loop.

I have wound care appointment to attend the next few following Tuesdays post op, so that will probably mean that I will be doing Wednesday, Thursday, Friday those weeks instead to make up for travelling to my wound care appointments on a tuesday.

Hope that this has not disappointed anyone but I think you all know how bad I've needed this doing for a long time now so hopefully everyone can understand 💖

Unfortunately, the answer is no. I don't own a salon and I don't employ staff- I'm a solo beautician renting my own space within a larger salon/business.

However, if you're looking to develop your skills and gain guidance within the industry, I do offer 1-to-1 mentorship sessions.

Hi all, just to let you know that I am not working next week

W/C June 8th. I set off this weekend for a family midweek trip away to scatter my great grandparents 🤍🕊

I will be taking time out with my family so I will not be responding to DM's at this time. I will be back responding to messages etc on the weekend of the 13th as we get back on friday, but its such a loooong drive. But I will get through messages/booking requests then.
