LITHOTOMY POSITION

Amidst the numerous obstetric positions,the lithotomy position is the most common obstetric position in our home setting.

Lithotomy position is a position in which the patient is laid on the back with the hips and knees flexed or bent with the thighs spread apart.

It provides a clear view of the area (perineal region) needed for a procedure or an examination.

Lithotomy position is usually employed during child birth, pelvic examination and sometimes prolonged surgical procedures

Before or during child birth you can speak to your midwife on a birthing position that suits you best.

Yesterday,l was informed of a maternal mortality. This news brought instant sorrow to all those who heard it.
Apparently,she was brought by the husband to the facility, her labour according to the midwife wasn't progressing hence she was induced or Augmented after this procedure,the husband didn't understand why the labour had prolong and further went on the compare his 2 wive's previous birth which wasn't dramatic as his, in his own words. He then got angry and asked to be discharged all efforts to make him resend his decision failed. He agreed to sign and consent to a document stating his quest to discharge the wife against medical advice. He sent the woman home only for them to get home,her condition was getting worst.
She was reported dead at 9 am yesterday. This goes to the back of core that some tribes have no or little respect to a woman . you will agree with me that this death was totally avoidable and on know account should a woman lose her life because she got pregnant medicine and science has so much advance,for this to be happening..
What do you think can be done to avoid such deaths

I have been greatly concerned about how expectant mothers who are Anaemic while pregnant, and usually they can even afford to check their HB from a lab,mos often times can't come for ANC because they have money. How can such issues be addressed and this is very peculiar to those working in the hinter lands, please share your ideas,because many delivery at home and bleed to death

Vaginal douching can lead to many health problems including problems of getting pregnant.
❌STOP DOUCHING because the va**na does a good job of cleansing itself!!!!!

Having a big abdomen is solely not an indication to a big baby.
