Today is another opportunity to repent and believe in the gospel, Jesus loves you

"IT IS TIME TO SEEK THE LORD."*

"Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you." (Hosea 10:12).

Beloved, it seems most people of our time seek the Lord only as *"a means to a selfish end."* In as much as Christians seek every good thing in God and from God, our Lord would rather be pleased with us if we made Christianity *"an unbreakable and faithful relationship of love"* between Him and us and among ourselves. This is the kind of relationship which the Prophet Hosea expects the people of Israel to establish between themselves and their God and strive to mend it when it is broken. It is like that deep relationship of love between a Man and his spouse.

It is hard but factual to say that most Christians of our time only make use of God to seek what they want, only to dump Him aside when they are satisfied. They only return to God when they are in need. The dangers of this kind of "fast food Christianity" are:

1. People only focus on the benefits rather than the Giver. By so doing, they make their possessions their gods and push GOD aside.

2. People practice their Christianity as mere rituals with the intention of bribing God to receive his favors whiles their hearts are far from Him. (Cf. Isaiah 29:13).

3. They are often affected by what I term "the pick and choose syndrome" , where they will quickly subscribe into whatever promises quick solutions to their problems but will make light or even refuse to patronize important elements like the word of God, Catechesis, effective use of the sacraments, God- centered prayers etc., which can nurture, strengthen and help them grow in their faith and cement their relationship with God.

4. Due to their lack of faith and commitment to God, they are often involved in "religious adultery" in which due to their desperation for quick solutions to their problems they jump from one prophet to another or from one fe**sh priest to another. Like the allegorical "Gomer" , wife of Prophet Hosea, they become adulterous wives to God, their Husband.

Brethren, in today's first reading, God expresses His displeasure to the Israelites who are ungrateful to Him in spite of all the blessings they received from Him:

"Israel was a spreading vine; he brought forth fruit for himself. As his fruit increased, he built more altars; as his land prospered, he adorned his sacred stones." (Hosea 10:1)

Friends in Christ, what God requires of us is *faithfulness.* He would be pleased *if we are committed and loyal to Him and Him alone.* He will love it if *we are obedient to Him* and *He will be overjoyed if we make every moment (whether favorable or unfavorable), *"a time to seek Him." And the time is now.*
