[02/16/15]   WASH THAT FOUNDATON SPONGE OR THROW IT AWAY!

A lot of us are guilty of using one foundation or powder sponge in applying our make up over and over without washing or changing it. When we buy a new foundation or powder, we just use the applicator sponge that comes with it until we finish the product. This is a very unhygienic thing to do because the applicator sponge gets dirty as you use it in reapplication. Since foundations, whether liquid or cream are moist, the sponge becomes a haven for all sorts of bacteria that can cause several skin reactions like acne.

It is important to wash your sponge after every application or at the end of each day and dry it out in the sun. You can use some warm water with any good soap or shampoo. For thorough cleansing, wash the sponge three or four times, each time changing the water. It is also important that you rinse it thoroughly to avoid any soap or shampoo settling in those tiny air spaces.

Above all, it is embarrassing to be seen using an applicator sponge that looks like you just dipped it in mud. If you use a brush as your applicator, always use a brush cleaner for thorough cleansing. Let's keep our facial skin healthy because it is the first step to having flawless make up.

Love, TMUG

[10/23/14]   BODY LOTIONS VERSUS FACIAL MOISTURIZERS
A lot of us use body lotions on not just our bodies but on our faces. |A body lotion is too heavy for the face because facial skin is thinner and more delicate than the skin on the body. As a result using body lotion on the face tends to block the facial pores or if it is a lightening cream, over lightens the face. you must always use a facial moisturizer. A facial moisturizer is usually light and specifically made to protect, soften and even out the delicate facial skin. Always go for a facial moisturizer that contains natural anti-bacterial ingredients like eucalyptus and green tea to prevent acne breakouts. Always use a facial moisturizer before applying your foundation to achieve a smooth finish.

[12/05/13]   Liquid foundation vrs. Cream foundation!

The decision to use either liquid or a creamy foundation largely depends on the condition of your facial skin, the makeup look you intend to have, etc. If you have a smooth even face, you can get away with liquid foundation any day but if you intend to cover up some black spots without the use of a concealer, then a cream to powder foundation is what you need. It is important that you use an OIL-FREE cream to powder foundation to prevent the pores from clogging as a result of excess oil. If you still prefer a liquid foundation then by all means use a concealer to cover up the spots before applying your foundation. Finish the look with loose or pressed powder.
