Healthy Flavored Water Recipes for Weight Loss

1.Add frozen berries to water.
Why bother with boring ice cubes when you can add frozen berries instead? Frozen blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries keep your water cold and add flavor. They also add a pop of color to your drink. You can either add a few frozen berries directly to your water (buy them in bulk at the grocery store) or use ice cube trays to freeze berries into cubes. Berry flavored water will help to reduce your cravings for sweet treats and you may even save money and avoid waste in the process. Take fresh berries that are going bad and throw them in the freezer for later use.

2. Make cucumber water.
If you prefer a flavor that is less sweet, then you'll love cucumber water. Simply add a few slices to your glass and the subtle flavor gives your water a fresh, spa-like taste. If you have more time, fill a pitcher with a handful of cucumber slices and let it sit in your refrigerator. The cool flavor will help you skip the urge to drink a cold soda or crave junk foods. Try freezing cucumber slices to add to water instead of ice cubes.

3.Make orange water or add other citrus flavors.
Lemons and limes can make your water look more sophisticated and add a hint of flavor, but don't forget about other citrus fruits. Oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and mandarins also taste great in water. Keep a bowl of fruit slices in your refrigerator to mix and match throughout the day. My favorite combination is orange and basil. Add a few slices of orange and a few sprigs of basil to a pitcher of water and let it sit for an hour or two. The mixture sounds odd but this delicious water recipe kills my cravings for salty savory foods. If you prefer a hot drink, add a slice of lemon to hot water in the morning. It makes a great pick-me-up that adds no calories.

4.Make mint water.
Make refreshing mint ice cubes by throwing a small sprig of spearmint, peppermint, or lemon mint into the ice cube tray, then add water and freeze. You can also make these healthy flavored water cubes with your favorite herbs, like rosemary or basil. This water recipe is best for people who don't like sweetened beverages but still prefer some flavor. And sometimes the taste of mint can reduce your urge to snack so this healthy water is great for weight loss.

Snacks to Eat When You're Bored

1. Cut Veggies and Salsa
Be your own hero, and keep a fridge full of cut veggies for easy healthy snacking. They're satisfying, crunchy, and super low in calories, and they deliver a whole lot of nutrients to your body. If you’re snacking because you’re bored, you might as well get something good out of it. Some great veggies to snack on are baby carrots, jicama sticks, and sugar snap peas.

2.Fresh Fruit
Fresh fruit has a few things going for it: It’s healthy, it’s all-natural, and it’s delicious. Reach for a crunchy Fuji apple, a cup of green grapes, a bowl of sliced mango, a berry trifecta with raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries…the list of good-for-you fruits is endless. Munching on fresh fruit is the way to go if you’re craving sweetness—you get that yummy natural flavor without any added sugar.

3.Seaweed Snacks
They’re green, they’re lean, and they’re perfect for when you feel like you need some crunch in your life! Seaweed snacks are light, crispy, and naturally salty—perfect for when you're craving potato chips. Bonus: You can have a huge portion of a small number of calories. Look for seaweed sheets, seaweed crumbles, even chips. Some of my top brand picks are SeaSnax, GimMe Organic, and Annie Chun’s.

Why Refined Carbs Are Bad For You⁉️
[Refined Carbs Can Drive Overeating and Increase the Risk of Obesity]
A large portion of the population is overweight or obese. Eating too many refined carbs may be one of the main culprits.
Because they are low in fiber and digested quickly, eating refined carbs can cause major swings in blood sugar levels. This can contribute to overeating.
This is because foods high on the glycemic index promote short-term fullness, lasting about one hour. On the other hand, foods that are low on the glycemic index promote a sustained feeling of fullness, which lasts about two to three hours.
Blood sugar levels drop about an hour or two after eating a meal high in refined carbs. This promotes hunger and stimulates parts of the brain associated with reward and craving.
These signals make you crave more food, and are known to cause overeating.
Long-term studies have also shown that eating refined carbs is linked with increased belly fat over the course of five years.
Furthermore, refined carbs may cause inflammation in the body. Several experts have speculated that this may be one of the primary dietary causes of leptin resistance and obesity.
[Refined Carbs May Increase the Risk of Heart Disease and Type 2 Diabetes]
Heart disease is incredibly common, and currently the world’s biggest killer.
Type 2 diabetes is another very common disease, affecting about 300 million people worldwide.
People with type 2 diabetes have a high risk of developing heart disease.
Studies show that a high consumption of refined carbs is linked with insulin resistance and high blood sugar levels. These are some of the main symptoms of type 2 diabetes.
Refined carbs also increase blood triglyceride levels. This is a risk factor for both heart disease and type 2 diabetes.
One study in Chinese adults showed that over 85% of the total carbohydrate intake came from refined carbs, mainly white rice and refined wheat products.
The study also showed that people who ate the most refined carbs were two to three times more likely to get heart disease, compared to those who ate the least.

Healthy Ways to Get Protein in Your Diet
1️⃣ Make Cooking Protein Easier
One of the most common reasons that people don’t eat more protein is that it is too hard to prepare. Let’s face it, meat doesn’t microwave well. But there are many inexpensive counter grills that make grilling meat easier and healthy. The George Foreman Grill is a brand that is popular with many people. Sarah also points out that grilling is a good way to prepare food without too much fat. In addition to chicken, Sarah suggests grilling turkey, lean pork, lean beef, and even tofu.
2️⃣ Get Creative With Eggs
There are countless ideas for healthy omelets and scrambled eggs that are popular. But you can also get creative and make a healthy veggie and egg frittata on Sunday night and portion it out for lunch during the week. Unlike meat, eggs do microwave well and they are easy to carry to work in single-serve containers. In addition, you can add cooked eggs to other foods you might not typically consider. Throw scrambled eggs into tacos, throw diced cold eggs into a three bean salad, sliced hard boiled egg onto a sandwich or drop a raw egg in your ramen or soups while boiling in a pot. You might even have eggs with a breakfast sandwich. Eggs have a very little flavor so you can add them to almost anything without changing the taste.
3️⃣ Pick Veggies With Protein
In general, animal sources have more bioavailable protein than plant sources, which may be lower in some proteins. Animal protein also contain all the essential amino acids. But that doesn’t mean that the protein content in vegetables can’t contribute to your overall intake. Some veggies are better than others. Good vegetable sources of protein include peas, bean sprouts, tofu, soy beans, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, broccoli, cooked spinach, kale, artichoke, sweet corn, avocado, and asparagus. Some fruit even contains protein. A banana, for example, can contain up to 2 grams of the nutrient.
4️⃣ Stock Up on Legumes, Beans, Nuts
For non-meat eaters, your best source of protein will be legumes. One cup of butter beans, for example, contains 14 grams of protein. That’s less than you’ll get from a single serving of chicken breast, but if you combine beans with protein-rich vegetables, you’ll end up with a high protein meal. Quinoa is another popular legume that is rich in protein.
Beans and nuts also make good snacks because they are easy to cook in advance and carry around. Just be careful about choosing the best varieties. Canned beans are fine, but many contain added salt and sugar. If you can make the time to cook your beans from scratch, you’ll be better off while saving money. And choose nuts that aren’t heavily flavored or salted.
5️⃣ Eat Protein for Dessert
Believe it or not, you can even include protein in a healthy dessert. Low-fat yogurt with fruit is a great example. Greek-style yogurt tends to have more protein, but remember to eat this sweet treat in moderation (both the frozen and refrigerated varieties) as some of the brands and flavors contain quite a bit of sugar.
