How do you bring natural light deep into an interior when the floor plan is compact and enclosed areas are essential?

Our design solution for Mishcon de Reya was allocating full-height glass doors and partitions throughout the office, allowing daylight to travel freely across the workspace without compromising on acoustics or privacy.

It's a principle we return to time and again at Spatial Concept: natural light, when maximised, changes everything. It affects mood, productivity and wellbeing. In a compact office like Mishcon de Reya's workspace, ensuring that light reaches every corner was non-negotiable.

Clients visiting a law firm expect discretion. How do you provide privacy in a reception area without creating a closed-off, unwelcoming atmosphere?

For Mishcon de Reya, we designed separate waiting areas within the reception that allow clients to wait for their meetings with privacy, without feeling isolated or shut away. The layout ensures that guests are comfortably settled in their own space, away from other visitors, while the overall environment remains open, light and inviting.

The challenge: How do you make a brand's presence felt before a guest even reaches the front desk?

The solution: We lined Mishcon de Reya 's reception with a signature geometric pattern drawn from their UK office fence, reinterpreted at an expanded scale. Combined with an illuminated logo, this design element is visible directly from the lift lobby so that Mishcon's identity greets every visitor the moment the lift doors open.

Mishcon de Reya 's new Hong Kong office has a compact floor plan, but the team still needs space for social events and gatherings.

Our solution is in the pantry area, where we designed a custom bar table with concealed wheels that can split in half. In everyday mode, it serves as a casual meeting and dining spot. When an event calls, the team simply separates the two halves and rolls them aside, opening up the space in moments.
