"Should I wait a little longer before colouring my roots?"

It may seem like less frequent colouring is better, but from a colourist's perspective, that's not always the case.

For most colour services, the ideal amount of regrowth is around 1–2 cm (½–¾ inch). This allows the colourist to work with precision and achieve the most even, predictable result.

When regrowth reaches 4–6 cm (1.5–2.5 inches) or more, the colouring process becomes much more challenging:

✔️ More colour or lightener is required.

✔️ It becomes harder to achieve an even lift from roots to ends.

✔️ The risk of banding and uneven colour increases.

✔️ Additional toning or corrective work may be needed.

🎨 Why can the cost of a root touch-up vary?

Many clients think that any regrowth is simply a “root touch-up,” but in professional hair coloring there is an important difference.

✔️ Root touch-up – when the regrowth is up to approximately 1–1.5 cm.

✔️ Full regrowth application (virgin root application) – when the regrowth exceeds 1.5 cm. In some cases, it can be 4–6 cm or even longer.

Why does it matter?

The longer the regrowth, the more color, developer, time, and precision are required to achieve an even and beautiful result.

This is why coloring 1 cm of regrowth is very different from coloring 5–6 cm of regrowth, and the price may vary accordingly.

✔️ Окрашивание корней — это когда отросшая прикорневая зона составляет примерно до 1–1,5 см.

✔️ Первичное окрашивание (или полное окрашивание корней) — это когда отрастание превышает 1,5 см. В некоторых случаях оно может достигать 4–6 см и более.

Почему это важно?

Чем больше длина отросших корней, тем больше расход красителя, окислителя и рабочего времени мастера. Кроме того, длинная прикорневая зона требует другого подхода к нанесению и контролю процесса окрашивания для получения ровного и красивого результата. Также занимает больше времени и вашего и мастера.

Поэтому стоимость окрашивания при отрастании 1 см и при отрастании 5–6 см не может быть одинаковой.

Я всегда стараюсь максимально точно рассчитать услугу до начала работы и объяснить клиенту, из чего складывается её стоимость.
