😱 I’m really cringing at this one… THIS is the water we drink!
As part of the Malibu C water testing kit, there’s a chlorine indicator test.
It’s really simple — you take a small sample of your tap water and add the chlorine indicator provided in the kit.
💧 Clear — No residual chlorine present
💛 Yellow — Chlorine is present
💚 Bright yellow/greenish — High level of chlorine
And I would definitely say ours is on the bright yellow end of the scale! 😳
Now, I completely understand that chlorine is used to disinfect our water and help make it safe to drink, but seeing the result like this definitely makes you think about the effect our water can have on our hair and skin, especially when we’re washing in it every single day.
Chlorine and mineral build-up can contribute to hair feeling dry, dull or brittle and can affect how colour looks and lasts — which is exactly why water quality is something we’re becoming much more aware of in the salon.
Next week I’m going to do the exact same test using bottled water to see how it compares. 👀💧
