After journaling for decades, I've seen how my own practice has evolved. The way I journal today looks very different from how I did it ten years ago, and that's exactly as it should be.
Many of us first encounter journaling as a teenager, using a diary to pour out our emotions. While that can be a great outlet, the world of journaling is so much more versatile now. There isn't just one "right" way to do it.
The most effective journaling technique is simply the one that serves your purpose right now. The method you choose should align with your current needs, your goals, and what's happening in your life at this moment.
The key is to see your journal as a flexible tool, not a rigid chore. A technique that helped you process a big life change might not be what you need when you're looking to build a new daily habit. The goal is to find what resonates most for this season of your life.
Giving yourself permission for your journaling style to change can be the very thing that invigorates the practice. It keeps it feeling supportive rather than like another task on your to-do list.

Stop seeing massage as simply relaxing your muscles, and start seeing it as regulating your nervous system.
We often think of massage as a way to soothe sore shoulders or an aching back. And while it is wonderful for that, something much deeper is happening on a physiological level. The feeling of calm that washes over you is a real, measurable response in your body.
Research into moderate pressure massage shows it has a powerful effect on two key parts of our stress response.
Firstly, it can lead to increased activity in the vagus nerve. Think of this nerve as a communication pathway that helps guide your body out of a stressed, 'fight-or-flight' state and into a calmer 'rest-and-digest' mode.
At the same time, this type of touch helps to decrease cortisol, which is often called our primary stress hormone. Studies have even shown that moderate pressure massage activates parts of the brain involved in stress and emotion regulation, like the amygdala and hypothalamus.
So that profound sense of peace you feel is not just about loosened muscles. It is your nervous system being gently guided back into balance, with your stress hormones dialling down and your body's natural relaxation response switching on. It is a reset for your entire system.
Have you ever felt that deep sense of calm settle in during a massage, like more than just your muscles are relaxing?

When was the last time a treatment session felt completely unhurried, as if you were the only client that day?
This is the feeling I am dedicated to creating. It's why I've made the conscious choice to limit my bookings to just two or three appointments each week.
This isn't about creating scarcity, but about preserving the sanctity of the experience. By keeping my schedule intentionally light, I can ensure my full, focused care and energy are dedicated entirely to you.
It means every treatment is truly bespoke. I can blend techniques like Reiki and Indian Head Massage with deeply restorative holistic therapies to meet your specific needs. There is no clock-watching or rushing to prepare for the next person. This is your space to reset your body, mind, and spirit.
The goal is to help you release tension, restore your energy flow, and leave feeling lighter, calmer, and truly revitalised. I have a few select appointments available on the 21st, 23rd, 28th and 30th of September, and the 2nd of October.
If this kind of dedicated care resonates with you, DM me 'RELAX' and I can share more details.

She came to me with pain in her shoulders and right arm.
A woman in her early 60s, she was losing sleep because of the pain and wanted to try Indian Head Massage.
The way I work is very gentle. I think of a knot in a necklace or a length of rope. You wouldn't use force to get it out. I use that same approach with muscles.
Often, pain happens because of overuse. A muscle doesn't work in isolation, it works with other muscles.
After one session, her pain went away, and she was able to get a good night’s sleep.
It’s about more than just the physical body relaxing. When we release that tension, the mind can also begin to relax and let go of the need to overwork. Gentleness is sometimes the most powerful approach we can take.
So much of life tells us to push harder, but our bodies often know better.
When have you found that a gentle approach worked better than force?

What nobody tells you about the trend for journaling is that it isn't new at all. It's a practice that has been used for centuries by some of humanity’s greatest minds.
The enduring power of journaling isn't just in the act of writing itself. It’s in its adaptability. The most effective journaling has always been tailored to a specific purpose. It’s about figuring out what you need and then using the journal as a tool to help you get there.
For example, Albert Einstein used a dream journal. He didn't just write down his daily thoughts. He specifically used his journal as a tool to capture ideas and solutions from his dreams, which helped him develop some of his groundbreaking theories.
By focusing on a purpose, whether it's for new ideas, releasing tension, or restoring balance, the journal becomes more than just a diary. It becomes a practical and personal space for what you need most.

I love seeing the visible shift in someone after a treatment, as a sense of calm and quiet settles over them. It’s a beautiful transformation to witness, and it’s fascinating to know that this feeling has a clear basis in our neurology.
Research gives us an incredible insight into why this happens. Studies using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) have shown that moderate pressure massage can be linked to activity in specific parts of the brain.
These areas include the amygdala, the hypothalamus, and the anterior cingulate cortex.
What makes this so significant is that these are all key regions involved in how we regulate both stress and emotion. So, that feeling of unwinding and becoming more centred isn't just a general sense of relaxation. It’s connected to a real, measurable response in the very parts of your brain that manage your stress levels.
