Mid-West Osteopaths was established in 2003. Our patients include those with work or sport related injuries, older people as well as mothers and babies.
Victoria Large founded Mid-West Osteopaths in 2003 and over the 10 years since has run clinics in Castlebar, Westport, Castlerea and Ballina. The practice and moved into a lovely room provided by Deborah at Demure in Castlebar. The clinic is open there on Wednesdays. Our Westport Clinic is situated in the heart of Westport in a Clinic called Pro Therapy. We are open here on Thursdays. The most common conditions treated by osteopaths are:
back and neck pain
shoulder and arm problems
pelvis, hip and leg problems
sports and other injuries
However patients have found osteopathy beneficial for many other conditions including arthritic pain and immobility, pregnancy related back and pelvic pain, babies with colic or reflux.

Back pain is very common problem which affects around 8/10 people. It can cause a lot of problems from pain to disability. Even though minor back problems can be very painful, fortunately it is not usually serious and permanent damage can be rare. What you do in the early stages is very important. Resting for a day or two can actually prolong the pain. As humans, our spines are designed for movement and the sooner you get moving and back to your normal activities, the sooner you will feel better. Back pain may originate from the muscles, ligaments and small joints.
