Why do we start practising on a mannequin before working on a live model?

Because before working close to a client’s eyes, every student needs to learn the correct hand movements, lash separation and safe application technique. Lash tweezers are very precise and sharp, so it’s important to build confidence and control first.

Practising on a mannequin allows students to develop the right technique in a safe environment before moving on to a live model. Safety, precision and good habits always come first. 🤍

Why do we love it? Better retention, instant adhesive curing, reduced exposure to glue fumes, and less dependence on temperature and humidity. ✨

For me, the UV method has completely changed both the comfort of my work and the durability of the lash extensions.

Monica, Founder of MJ Lashes Studio & Academy ✨

I have been working in the lash industry since 2015, which means I now have 11 years of experience. Over the years, I have gained a huge amount of knowledge, but most importantly, I have realised that lash styling is not just my work it is my true passion.

Throughout the years, I have taken part in many lash competitions and won numerous awards that I am incredibly proud of. One of the most important moments in my career was winning 1st place at the Irish Beauty Show in Dublin in 2019. I honestly did not expect to win, which is why this achievement still holds a very special place in my heart.

Another important step in my professional journey was becoming a lash competition judge. Having the opportunity to evaluate the work of other lash artists gave me a completely different perspective on our industry and made me appreciate even more how important quality, precision and correct technique truly are.

Today, I share my knowledge and many years of experience with students at MJ Lashes Studio & Academy in Clonmel. During my training courses, I focus on professional education, hands-on practice under my constant guidance, and an individual approach to every student. My goal is to make sure the knowledge I share is clear, practical and easy to apply in everyday work as a lash artist.

Recently, I have also fallen in love with creating more unique and modern lash styles, especially Wispy Lashes, and I can see that you are loving them more and more too. 🤍

I used to create Mega Volume for this client, but this time we decided to change things up and go for Wispy Lashes — and it was definitely the right decision.

For this set, I used brown lashes, which beautifully open up the eyes, create a softer and lighter look, and naturally enhance her features. ✨
