A half head of dreads is a great solution if you're not quite ready to go for the full head 😊
You get the benefit of still having your loose hair on top with a burst of colour underneath. 🌈

Few half sets of dreads I've made recently 😊
It's all natural/Autumnal and cool toned dreads that seem to be all the rage at the moment 🍂🍁
PM me if you're interested in getting some dreads ✌️

Halloween is well and truly over and I'm heartbroken to say the least 😭😭 Closing out the spooky season with the final Halloween look I created this year.
This one is extra special because I actually attempted to record myself doing it! Keep an eye on my Instagram page over the next few days for that video if you're interested in seeing my many weird facial expressions while I paint my face 👀👀

So as some of you may have seen, Caroline is turning the page to the next chapter in her life and heading away in January!
Melanie, Ashlin and I have been entrusted to take over the shop and continue the legacy that Caroline has built up over so many years of hard work and dedication. A fantastic opportunity for us that I can't wait to take on 😁 Onwards and Upwards ✌️
Sooo if you've followed me lately on Insta, I've been decluttering and selling few things lately, the shop is NOT closing but I am making a move forward in my life and will be leaving Ireland in January.
I loved my dreadshop to bits, it's been a dream coming true, building my own dreadlock shop, making a living from my own art and creating beautiful things while driving so many side-projects in the same time and meeting the most amazing people to be part of their dreadlock journey.
This year has been so busy and fulfulling for me, in term of work but also because I saw my life changing, on both personal and professional levels.
On a rainy Sunday afternoon, as I was hanging around in the shop, painting bits and thinking of what DIY I could come up with, I realized, after 2 years, I was actually happy with how the shop looked and fully satisfied with it.
That came a bit as a shock thinking I wouldn't have to do any more DIY or buying more decoration. Then I started to think of my team and realized, somehow, the dream I once had was currently happening and I could see it right in front of my eyes.
I suddently went into some thinking I didn't had in a long time such as "what are my other dreams?", "What do I want to do next?", "What do I want to achieve in my life?" and so on.
As I was looking at the situation from outside and from above, I realized I created jobs, meaning I had 3 girls under 30 years old (of which 2 under 25 y/o) that are starting / working on their career path, with their youth, ambition and skills.
My little dream of the dreadshop went even further that I was once hoping as I could pass it on and see other people blooming and thriving in what once was a plan on paper. I passed on them all my knowledges, in term of dreadlock skills, business advices but also in term of values and beliefs:
I always believed since I'm a kid that there was another way than a 9 to 5, I believed in an alternative way of life, I believed of dressing the way you want of having any hairstyle you want to be yourself, I believed I could do what ever I wanted with my life if I was commited to it and put all my efforts in to it.
When it came to believe into other people that myself, it became harder but I decided I would never be able to grow, on a personnal level and onto my shop level if I was stuck with myself.
So I believed in Melanie Mook when we met and started to work together and created beautiful dreadlocks to our clients. One day, Naoíse Sadbh Ducker came to get dreadlocks and I saw through her what I had in myself at her age ; I believed in her joining the team and we had the busiest year all around the country transforming people, and ourselves, with makeup and dreads. Few months ago, one of my client, Ashlin VanWey came to get her dreadlocks done and asked me about an apprentship in the shop: I didn't asked her for a CV, I told her that this job is the best but also not the easiest, I was frank to her, and if she believed that was the way of life and career she wanted, I would believed in her.
So on that rainy Sunday afternoon, as I was contemplating my place, I also realized my team was ready to continue the story I once started ; adding their own skills and dreams it in order to keep doing dreadlocks to my dear clients and fulfill their life, career, projects and mostly, keep on inspire people as once they were inspired.
I hope you will believe in them like I did and they will inspire you like they did to me, taking the decision to pass on my little dream to them.
I'm ending my "Cork Dreadshop" chapter but The Pink Octopus - Dreadshop is firmly staying in Georges Quay and ready to take 2019 with many new projects, festivals and dreadlove. I can't wait to be myself a spectator of all the new things they will make happen while I will be secretly preparing new exciting projects.
[There will be few other news coming up as I'm still here for 6 weeks ; taking appointements as usual.]

I'm feeling nostalgic today so here's a few throwbacks to the first few Special FX makeup looks I ever did 😅
I started off using PVA glue and tissue for wounds, then Vaseline and flour and I thought it was amazing 😂 Maple syrup and red food colouring was my recipe for fake blood too 😊
It's always nice to look back and see how far I have come since 🤩
