I 1st had my nails done in 5 Ave in Dublin and loved it. Came back to Cork and 4 weeks later went to have it done locally and it was not done well at all . So disappointed. So decided to go to 5 th ave in cork . I was there this morning. And a young lady called Joy did a fantastic job on my nails couldn’t be happier . Thank you all and I’ll be back in 4 weeks time . I’m devastated! WE Hear this very offten these day !

A week ago I applied press on nails using the glue they came with.

Today I got around to removing them. Did heaps of soaking with warm soapy water and they just weren’t budging with the use of an orange stick, so resorted to a quick dip in nail polish remover which helped.

When they finally came off, so did layers of my nails 😭
How on earth do I help my nails while this grows out 😢

Our advice is: never do them.
No professional nail technician would truly recommend press-on nails with glue for regular use, and no professional nail salon would offer this as a proper long-term nail service.
They were created for a quick gel-look manicure at home, but removal is very often not as “easy” as advertised. Unfortunately, when removed incorrectly — or simply when the glue is too strong — they can take layers of the natural nail with them, exactly what happened here.
Right now your nails need time, hydration and protection: • keep them short • use cuticle oil daily • avoid buffing the damaged areas • wear gloves for cleaning/washing • avoid more glue, gel or acrylics until they recover
The good news is nails do grow back, but it can take a few months for the damaged part to fully grow out.
This is exactly why healthy natural nail care will always be safer than quick home glue systems 😢
