If your essential oil doesn’t have the the Latin botanical name on the label, I’d think twice before buying it.....

For example, on my Sandalwood you'll see Santalum album, and on the Organic Geranium you’ll see Pelargonium graveolens.

The botanical name tells you exactly which plant the essential oil comes from, and it’s one of the first things I look for when choosing an oil.

There are plenty of oils on the market that can look beautiful and sound natural, but knowing what to look for on the label can help you make a more informed choice.

Turn the bottle around. Read the label. Know what you’re buying.

Rosemary in the Cabin

Did you know rosemary was traditionally used in French hospitals to help purify the air?

With the change in temperature, I’ve noticed a few clients arriving with the beginnings of a cold or feeling as though they might be coming down with something.

When that happens, I like to diffuse a little rosemary essential oil in the cabin. Just 2 drops creates a beautifully fresh, herbal aroma and helps keep the treatment space feeling clean and refreshed.

A little note for pet owners: essential oils need to be used with care around animals. I don’t diffuse rosemary when cats are present, as cats have limited ability to metabolise certain compounds found in essential oils.

Nature has given us some wonderfully aromatic plants — and rosemary is certainly one of my favourites.
