Today is Dragon Boat Festival by lunar calendar the peak time of Summer is officially starting. We celebrate with different traditional Asian food and as usual TIA will host a market event in St. Patrick’s church in Greystones.

A normal day in my life-

I phoned my parents in Taiwan this morning for the Dragon Boat Festival. As they visited my dad’s hometown to pay respects to our ancestors, I could hear the chaos of my own morning—kids packing, rushing, and getting ready for school. I had to hang up, but I felt so grateful that at 85+, they are still traveling and active.

Once at school, my son realized he’d left his violin at home (again!). Back home, I found his homework on the kitchen table. He’s definitely in summer holiday mood already 😅

After sorting my daughter’s school trip gear, I jumped in the car and began my mental to-do list:

📌Make more body soufflé or focus on gift-wrapping products?

📌Final check on candles: scent, color, and wicks.

📌Quality test new size labels—the market is tomorrow!

📌Coordinate car service pickup for my in-laws.

📌Dinner at 5:00 PM: kid’s disco + potential playdates.

📌Update family calendar: D & S fly details.

📌Remind Pete about match times tomorrow.

📌Market prep: items, food, cash, and change.

📌Dinner prep: Asian noodles with kimchi & marinating mince?

📌Can I squeeze in a 45-min workout?

📌Reminder: Clean the machines from the landing to the attic!

There is always more to do, and honestly, things rarely go exactly to plan. That’s normal. For me, “perfect balance” is a fairy tale. Reality is about prioritizing the big picture, making fast decisions, and letting go of what can wait.

With two kids, we are always on standby for problem-solving. We have routines, but there are always those “I didn’t see that coming!” moments.

I’m also trying to film my process—making, packing, and designing—for social media. It can’t always be the top priority, and I know that editing and refining my content will be a long journey.

I’m learning not to wait until I hit the “big goal” to celebrate. I’m learning to appreciate the person I am every day—the one who doesn’t give up and keeps moving forward. That makes these “normal” days feel so much better.

🎨 Micas: Vibrant, shimmering, and completely stable. My Citrus Burst soap looks almost exactly the same today as it did a year ago! While they are coated for stability (meaning I won’t call them 100% natural), I always ensure ours are 100% ethically sourced and cruelty-free.

🪵 Plant Powders & Clays: Beautifully unpredictable. In my Mountain Rose soap from last winter, the madder root and pink kaolin clay have shifted and bled. The soap’s pH and heat act like a magician, morphing the colors over time.

Nature has its own timeline. Even if the color fades, the skin-loving benefits inside the bar remain just as rich!
