I want to tell you about something that often surprises folks about the Dr. Bronner’s Organic Sugar Soap: it’s deep caramel color. When most body care products are artificially clear or colored, this rich earthy hue is unexpected.

The Sugar Soap’s rich color comes from a particularly awesome ingredient: shikakai (sounds like “piece of pie”) powder, made from a ground up pod from a tree, that looks rather like cinnamon. Shikakai has a long history of use in traditional hair & body care in India and shikakai’s low pH makes it ideal for scalp & hair. Two other ingredients that give the Organic Sugar Soap its mellow character: fair trade & organic sugar and organic white grape juice.

The Sugar Soap is my go-to in the cooler weather because the color, sugar, and scent (Peppermint, Lavender, Lemongrass Lime, Tea Tree, or Unscented) add up to a very cozy combination. I’m telling you all this because now’s your time to try or stock up!

Washing hands-face-body 👈 These are the primary uses for Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Magic Soaps. I share so many “and also” uses of these products, but let’s get back to the basics. These are all I use for washing face to feet. It makes for a delightfully uncluttered shower & easy morning routine!

🧼 Castile Magic Liquid Soap - Apply one small sq**rt (yes, that’s all!) to wet hands/washcloth/loofah/bath brush. Use 1-2 drops for face & hand washing. Quick tip: Dilute 1 part soap to 3 parts water in a foaming pump dispenser for hands-face-body washing.
🧼 Castile Magic Bar Soap - Lather the bar onto wet hands or swipe with a washcloth, loofah, or bath brush.
🧼 Organic Sugar Soap - 1/2 pump for hands or face, 2-3 pumps for whole body. Extra gentle for dry or sensitive skin!

What’s your preferred soap & scent for hands-face-body?

I spy with my little eye... Dr. Bronner’s Castile Magic Soap making an appearance at the laundromat.

Use 3-4 Tbsp. (45-60 mL) of Pure-Castile Magic Soap for each large load in an HE (high efficiency) washing machine. Double these amounts in standard washing machines. If the laundromat has extra large washers, increase the soap amount accordingly.

When I’m washing something grubbier, like towels, I might throw in a 1/4 cup (70 g) of baking soda and in hard water conditions, I’ll add ½ cup (120 mL) of vinegar to the rinse water via the fabric softener compartment. Again, double these amounts in standard washing machines.

The Magic Soap is biodegradable, free of artificial fragrance & colors, and safe for septic and greywater systems.
