Tips for Starting To Use Retinol…✨💕 What to do and not do!!!🤔

1️⃣ Retinol makes the skin more sensitive to UV rays that damage skin!🌞 It is important to use a daily broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher at the end of your skincare routine to keep the skin healthy!🌤️🌤️

2️⃣ When you begin to use retinol, your skin undergoes a process called retinization where it adjusts to the treatment.📝 Using a hydrating moisturizer is especially important during this process to prevent dryness and reduce the risk of irritation.🧴💦 Apply the retinol after cleaning and before your nighttime moisturizer. Ideally, wait 5 minutes after applying retinol to apply your moisturizer! Consider also including a hyaluronic acid serum prior to applying the retinol!💙

3️⃣ If your skin is particularly prone to dryness and irritation, consider the sandwich method!🥪 This consists of applying moisturizer before and after applying your retinol! This helps trap moisture in your skin!🫧💧

4️⃣ Regardless of what percent concentration is best for your skin, always use about a pea size amount! 🤏🏻 This should suffice to apply a thing layer to your entire face! For beginners a 0.25% to 1% formula is dermatologist-recommended!👩🏼‍⚕️ If your skin isn’t too sensitive, consider beginning somewhere in the middle!😊

5️⃣ You should always be cautious about exfoliating and using retinol!🙂 Doing both the same day or the day prior can cause irritation, so be cautious!😳 If you are interested in exfoliating, it is best to wait to wait after the adjustment period passes.

6️⃣ It is recommended that for the first couple weeks of treatment, start using it twice a week and slowly grow to apply it every other night if your skin allows it!📈
