📣PS Wigs is an approved provider of the new wig grant under the Treatment Benefit Scheme.

The €500 grant will be available to people, and their dependent spouse, civil partner or cohabitant who satisfy the medical requirements and the PRSI conditions of the department’s Treatment Benefit scheme.

Employees paying PRSI contributions under Classes A, E, P and H as well as the self-employed who are insured under Class S may qualify for the grant.

The amount paid by the Department of Social Protection will be the full cost of one hair replacement item per calendar year, up to a maximum cost of €500 and will be available from 28 May 2022. It is not available to people who avail of surgical or topical treatments.

The scheme covers hair loss resulting from a disease or treatment of a disease such as cancer and some forms of alopecia. The types of alopecia for which a grant may be paid are:

alopecia areata (which includes alopecia totalis/universalis, diffuse alopecia areata, alopecia ophiasis)
primary scarring alopecias (also known as cicatricial alopecias)
frontal fibrosing alopecia and lichen planopilaris (scarring alopecia)
chemotherapy induced alopecia (anagen effluvium); and
alopecia resulting from surgery or trauma, including burns.

Whether you agree or disagree with Will Smiths actions after Chris Rocks Alopecia joke, I think we can all agree that Jada looked stunning 😍

A new grant offering financial support of 50% (up to €500) towards the cost of wigs, hairpieces or hair replacement systems due to illness will be introduced under the Treatment Benefit scheme (June 2022)

Currently medical card holders with alopecia can access a grant of up to around €440, but those without the card do not receive financial support.

Medical Card Wig Allowance 💕

Here’s a selection of some of my favourite fibre wigs that were chosen by clients this month, the cost of all of these wigs was fully covered by the medical card allowance along with a free wig kit containing all you need to maintain your new wig.
If you have a medical card and need a wig ask your Doctor about a wig prescription, bring it along to your appointment with your medical card and we can do the rest and you can leave that day with your new wig with no cost to you.

A renewed appeal has been issued for help in locating 45-year-old Bernadette Connolly, who has been missing from the Swords area of Dublin since Friday 7 January.
She was last seen after she was dropped by a taxi at the carpark of the Shoreline Hotel, Donabate, when she walked towards the entrance to Donabate Beach | Read more: http://bit.ly/3G56buF
