"It was easy to narrow it down because I've been sticking to a simple routine for over a year now," skincare specialist Ciara Darcy tells Irish Tatler. "When I'm consistent and keep key ingredients in my daily routine my skin looks its best. Previously I've been first in line to nab the latest skincare 'must-have' but I'm over that now! I just want to stick to a routine that I know works and shows results."
Saying that, Darcy has managed to narrow it down to five key products she would never go without. Unsurprisingly, they are all packed with skin goodness.
•
"If I could only use one product for the rest of my life it would be the
Ultimate Boost Serum," she says,
"It's packed with Niacinamide, Hyaluronic acid and Matrixyl Synthe6 it instantly hydrates my skin and leaves it with a glow. I use this every morning and evening after I cleanse."
•
"
Retinol 0.5%. I use this every second night after my Ultimate Boost serum. Retinol has made a huge improvement to the texture of my skin and visible pores. As we age our skin becomes looser and it loses strength so pores become more visible. If you want to up your skincare game, good quality retinol is the way to go."
•
" PreProbiotic Cleanse and Cleanse Off Mitt. My skin feels so soft when I use this and it removes my makeup effortlessly. I choose a gentle cleanser because I use active serums. It's important that I don't overdo it or my skin becomes sensitised," Darcy explains.
"Over the years I've used face washes and cleansers that have left my skin feeling tight and uncomfortable. That's always a bad sign as it indicates that too much oil has been stripped from the skin."
•
"I have to mention AlumierMD Everactive C&E here, too. It is insane how different my skin looks without this product! If I forget to put it on my skin doesn't look as bright. It has reduced stubborn pigmentation," she explains.
"My skin tone is more even. No two Vitamin C serums are the same, some literally have no effect. I would always do my research and invest in a good one."

This took time ⏰
• A homecare plan with products to use morning & evening.
• A course of Alumier peels to clear breakouts & then microneedling to work on scarring.
" Thank you so much Ciara, you've changed my skin! It hasn't looked this clear since I was 12!"

In this month's magazine I talk to Emma about how cleansing is key to healthy skin 🗝
• Water alone won't breakdown oils so in the morning a small amount of your favourite cleanser is needed. This will prep your skin so you get the full benefit from your serums/moisturisers/SPF. It will also make a difference to how long your makeup looks & lasts during the day.
• Take time to massage your cleanser onto your skin for 30/60 seconds this will give the ingredients time to work before being rinsed off.
• Double cleansing means cleansing twice. Repeating the step in the evening time is important to fully remove SPF, makeup & pollutants that can build up on your skin throughout the day.
• Makeup & SPF are designed to stay on the skin all day long. Double cleansing every night means you use a pre-cleanse balm/oil or simply use your cleanser twice depending on your skin.
• For spot prone skin I always recommend having two cleansers. One to reduce excess oils and keep your pores clear (look for the ingredient salicylic acid) & the other a gentle hydrating cream cleanser. One of each is a good balance for your skin!
• Cleanse once in the AM. Cleanse twice in the PM - that's it in a nutshell 🥜

" I have always struggled with my skin and I had been left with bad scarring. Ciara has transformed my skin, I can't believe the results after 3 sessions. I've gone from never leaving the house without makeup to going makeup free most days! I highly recommend her, I wish I found her sooner!"
Rachel will now start using retinol at home to continue to improve her skin. These photos were taken 3 months apart 💫

Why I'm not a Dermaplaning fan (also known as the Million Dollar Facial) full article on website 💻
• Dermaplaning is shaving your face. There's no fancy way to put it! A blade is used to remove vellus (soft fluffy hairs - we all have them!) and terminal hairs (strong hair when not removed from the root grow back thicker) from all over your face and neck.
• The blade cuts the hair so initally it will look and feel smooth but as it grows back there's more of it (absolutely no doubt in my mind about that, I've had it done)
• When done incorrectly it causes damage to your skin.
• If you want to remove facial hair choose threading as it pulls the hair from the root so overtime it will grow back finer.

If you had a skin consultation with me I would love to know how you've been getting on since, if you need a top up of products or you would like to arrange an online skin consultation please get in touch 💫 • Streamline your products • Consistently use them • Track your progress (really important to take photos if acne/rosacea/pigmentation are your focus) • Add products into your routine gradually • If after 2-3 months you can't see an improvement move on & try something else • Water intake, sleep & stress levels - all have a massive affect.. when we are stressed it increases inflammation & oil production within the skin
