‘I didn’t realise how much I needed that’

It’s something I hear all the time but it never lands lightly.

Because it’s never just about tight muscles.

It’s said after:

• a jaw unclenches
• a breath deepens properly for the first time in weeks

And in that moment people realise how much they’ve been holding.

Not just physically but emotionally too.

Other things I hear that stay with me:

These aren’t just nice things to say, they’re what happens when the body is finally given space to let go.

Your body is always learning.

When I first started, I thought taking care of my clients meant pushing through my own pain.

I would finish a day of treatments and feel it from my thumb all the way up into my neck.

But I ignored it.

Because I thought that’s just what you do, you put the client first.

Until I couldn’t anymore.

It got to the point where I was in so much pain,
I physically couldn’t work.

And that was the moment I realised something had to change.

I wasn’t practicing what I was giving.

So I started to do things differently.

💛 I stopped waiting until pain was unbearable
💛 I committed to regular massage myself
💛 I started doing the stretches and strength work
💛 I learned how to properly use my body, not fight against it

Because the truth is you can’t show up fully for others if your own body is struggling.

Now, taking care of my body isn’t optional.
It’s part of how I live and how I work.

And it’s the same thing I see with clients.

So many people are waiting until they’re in bits
before they do something about it.

But it doesn’t have to get that far.
