After the success of last yearβs quiet hour we are delighted to announce that it will run again in 2026 as part of the Wilton Recycling Donegal International Rally. This is an opportunity for neurodivergent individuals and families to come and enjoy an hour to look around and experience the rally in a reduced noise environment. Please spread the news.

Subject: Proposed Sunbed Ban
This is going to be a long one.
A potential sunbed ban has been outlined in the Programme for Government on page 87 signed by Fine Gael, Fianna FΓ‘il, and Independent representatives. The wording is explore ways to ban commercial sunbed use. Weβve had many customers asking whether the government is actually going to ban sunbeds, so we want to address that here.
The honest answer is: we donβt know. We had plans for 2025/2026 to refurbish the salon and add more lie-down sunbeds. As we do every year, we also planned to expand our hire fleet. However, due to the uncertainty around this proposal, we are now in limbo like our customers. We have no control over the outcome and must simply wait and see.
In our 23 years in business, the idea of a sunbed ban has been raised many times by various governments and political parties. This is the first time we feel genuinely concerned.
Our view is that this issue is a distraction from more pressing national priorities such as the state of the health service, the housing crisis, homelessness, and the mica/pyrite crisis, to name just a few. A possible focus could be on the opening of the national childrens hospital that was first priced at 500m and now set to cost 3b, and still no opening date in site. Despite these ongoing challenges, the government and the HSE appear to be focusing on a potential sunbed ban.
Where does it end?
A ban on what we drink, eat and consum? Apologising for having drinks, for have eaten too much steak or too much chocolate. How much more control should there be over peopleβs personal choices and daily lives? We hope that common sense will prevail.
One of the key challenges for sunbed businesses in Ireland is that, unlike larger industries, we donβt have the same influence or voice. It can feel like the sector is being treated as an easy target. Low hanging fruit, so to speak.
If you would like to continue using sunbeds, we encourage you to contact your local TDs. Their email addresses are listed below. You can copy and paste the message provided or write your own.

Subject: Opposition to Proposed Sunbed Ban
Dear [INSERT TDβS NAME],
I am writing as a voter to express my concern regarding recent discussions about a potential ban on sunbeds in Ireland.
As an adult and a moderate sunbed user, I strongly believe that the choice to use sunbeds is a personal one. Individuals over the age of 18 should have the right to make informed decisions about their own bodies without unnecessary government intervention.
I do not support a blanket ban on sunbeds and would like to retain the freedom to use them if I choose to do so. I respectfully ask that this perspective be taken into consideration in any future policy decisions.
Yours faithfully,
[Name]
