This means that the hair is collected with all strands running in the same direction (cut from a ponytail), this ensures that the hair cuticle layer is facing the same direction from root to tip just as they do in our natural hair. Follow these simple guidelines to maintain you hair extensions so that they will continue to look and feel natural for up to three to four months. It is advised that you only use a Hair Extension Loop Brush or nylon boar bristle-like brush to care for & to be gentle on your extensions whilst brushing. Never use the kind with “nubs” on the end of the bristles as they will pull on and damage the extensions. De-tangle the ends then brush from the roots to the tips. Make sure that the hair extensions have been separated in the root area. Wash extensions at least once a week to prevent natural oils from building up on the scalp area. A leave in conditioner may be used mid-length to ends only, do not use on the root area. DO NOT rub or massage when washing, wash hair extensions in a downward motion. Using your fingers to stroke the shampoo gently into the hair from the roots to the tips. Apply conditioner, avoid bonded areas near the scalp. Do not use heavy protein or silicone based conditioners as it may cause the hair to matt or tangle. After washing and conditioning, wrap a towel around the hair and pat gently to remove excess water. It is best to let your hair dry naturally. Heat is one of your hair-extension’s biggest enemies, the more you use it, the shorter your hair extensions will last. Gently tie or plait your hair before sleeping on it to prevent tangling. NEVER sleep on wet or damp hair extensions, the hair extensions should always be dry. Always hold the hair extensions whilst brushing to avoid placing tension on the roots, never back comb the roots area. Electric curling tongs, straightners and hot brushes may be used, but avoid the bonded areas. Wear a swimming cap when swimming or keep your hair out of the water. Chlorine and salt water can cause hair extensions to tangle and mat. For the first few days of your style, the extensions may feel a bit tight. This is normal and to be expected. After 2/3 days, the extensions will feel perfectly natural. It is expected to lose up to 10 single strand extensions.
