Did you really think everything in the beauty industry always runs smoothly, easily and exactly to schedule? 😂
Yesterday, on my expert page, I filmed a funny little “client-attraction ritual” involving a kraft paper bag filled with nail dust hidden under the doormat. I laughed about it for half the day — and then beauty professionals started messaging me saying they were seriously writing the spell down so they could try it themselves! 🙈
Of course, no kind of magic works as well as a strong system, excellent service, high-quality work and knowing how to communicate your value. That clear, practical system is exactly what I teach beauty professionals in my course.
But let’s be honest: we beauty pros have our own REAL superstitions — and they seem to come true with 100% accuracy!
✨ “I just want something simple” = prepare yourself for the most complicated design on all ten nails.
✨ “I’m a very loyal client” = congratulations, you’ve met the main toxic client of the month.
✨ You think, “Just one more hour and I’m going home” = get ready for a full new set with repairs.
✨ You finally sit down to eat during your break = five phone calls in one second.
✨ You plan a holiday = suddenly every single client desperately needs one of those exact three days!
And that’s only about 5% of what a beauty professional deals with every day behind the nail file 😅
Behind every beautiful manicure and every piece of “effortless” content, there is a huge amount of work, nerves of steel, genuine love for the profession — and plenty of funny behind-the-scenes chaos like this!
👇 Clients, be honest in the comments: which of these situations sounds like you? 😉
And fellow beauty professionals, join in! What major beauty superstition did I forget? Let’s continue the list together in the comments! 👇

I’m NOT paying for THIS!” — a phrase that makes any nail tech’s heart drop into their boots... 🙈
Yesterday, right in the middle of a appointment, a situation happened that made the whole salon go dead silent. After I finished the stamping design, the client looked at her hands, her face completely changed, and she stated she wouldn't pay because the skin around her nails was all stained...
A real scandal, or did the nail tech actually mess up?
Just read to the end to find out what really happened 😜
In reality — no clients or nail techs were harmed in the making of this video! 😂
But let’s be honest: in my 15 years in the industry, I regularly see that slight panic and hidden mistrust in the eyes of new clients somewhere in the middle of the appointment...
When there’s still pigment left on the skin from stamping, when the free edges aren't shaped yet, or when the length looks a bit weird...
Girls, I want to share the main rule with you:
✨ Until the nail tech grabs the cuticle oil — the service is NOT finished! ✨
Everything you see during the process is just intermediate technical steps:
• Shaping and perfecting the edges is something I ALWAYS do after applying the top coat;
• Any leftover dust, paste, or stamping polish is cleaned off with special professional products;
• And at the very end comes a whole ritual: cleansing foam, hydrating water, and nourishing oil, leaving your cuticles looking fresh and picture-perfect.
My regulars already know this secret and just relax in the chair, fully trusting the process. And a quick tip for my fellow nail techs: always walk your new clients through these steps to save their nerves (and yours too!) 😉
👇 To my clients — confess: did the beginning of this post scare you? Have you ever silently panicked during a set, only to leave completely obsessed with the final result?
To my fellow nail techs — have you ever had clients panic way too early? How did you handle it? 👇✨

I WILL NEVER PUT A TV IN MY SALON.❌
That's exactly what I used to passionately tell my students during my courses.
And you know what?
Never say "never"! 🙈
I've always believed that a TV kills the atmosphere.
I mean, let's be honest... playing a TV series in the background just because the nail technician likes it is a bit cringe.
And what if a client is going through a difficult time in her life, and the same kind of drama is playing on the screen?
Instead of relaxing, she's reminded of everything she's trying to escape.
But I decided to run an experiment and look at it from a different perspective.
And I realized that, when used the right way, a TV can actually become a huge upgrade to the client experience! 🚀
What are the benefits?
✅ For you (my clients): Time flies by, beautiful visuals help you switch off, your mind gets a break from work messages, and even music can become less repetitive.
✅ For me: I can focus 100% on creativity and the quality of my work.
And there's one more bonus for me here in Ireland.
Since my English still isn't perfect for long conversations about absolutely everything, the TV is the perfect way to avoid those awkward silent moments.
You relax. I create.
To me, great service isn't just about a perfect manicure.
It's also about how you feel while you're sitting in my chair. ❤️
Now I need your help! ⭐
I'm putting together the perfect "can't-stop-watching" playlist.
No TV series.
No news.
🙅‍♀️ Unless, of course, that's what you would actually like.
Personally, I love watching wordless ASMR videos:
beautiful travel films,
cooking exotic seafood (you already know about my love for lobsters! 🦞),
home renovations,
the underwater world,
or peaceful camping in the forest.
So tell me...
What kind of videos do you find yourself completely absorbed in when you just want to relax and switch off?
Leave your favourite ideas in the comments, and I'll create our own signature playlist from your suggestions. 👇👇👇

It often happens that you bring me a photo of a nail design I created myself and ask me to recreate it exactly the same.
But the truth is... even I can't copy my own work perfectly.
Every set of nails is different—the shape, the length, the proportions. And I'm not a machine or a production line. I'm an artist with a creative mindset.
I can recreate the idea, the mood, the colour palette and the overall style, but the final result will always be unique—created especially for you.
I believe in drawing inspiration, not making copies.
So instead of saying, "I want exactly this," let's create a version that suits your nails and your style.
That's how a manicure becomes something personal—not just a copy of a picture you saw online.

Four years ago, nobody in Ireland knew who I was.
Today, I'm lucky to have an amazing community around me—my clients, followers, colleagues, students, and friends.
And it made me wonder...
If you've known me for a while—whether you've been my client, followed my journey, or simply watched my videos from time to time...
How would you describe me in just one word?
What's the very first word that comes to mind when you hear the name Yana Dolia?
Not my profession. Not "nail technician."
Me as a person.
❤️ I'd genuinely love to read every single comment.
Sometimes people see qualities in us that we don't even notice ourselves.
👇 Just one word. The first one that comes to your mind.

Sometimes inspiration doesn't come from Pinterest. It comes from memories. 🌿
This design reminds me of a blooming wildflower meadow. The kind where you want to walk barefoot, breathe in the scent of fresh flowers, and wish summer would never end.
Every flower in this design is hand-painted. No stickers, no stamping, no ready-made decals. Just a fine brush, gel paints, patience, and a genuine love for detail.
That's exactly why I love hand-painted nail art. No two designs are ever the same. Every nail is a tiny, one-of-a-kind piece of art.
For me, nails are about much more than a beautiful manicure. They're a way to wear emotions, memories, and a little piece of summer right at your fingertips.
What does this design remind you of? A wildflower meadow, a fresh summer bouquet, or maybe one of your favorite summer memories? 🌼💜💙

Why does your nail technician keep turning your hand during a manicure?
Your hand should move — not stay stiff the entire time. It's not a habit or a personal preference; it's an important part of the technique.
Imagine you're peeling a potato. 🥔
If you keep it in one position, you'll struggle to remove the skin evenly and may even cut into the potato. But when you rotate it in your hand, the knife follows the surface smoothly and precisely.
It's exactly the same with your nails.
A relaxed, movable hand allows your nail technician to work from the correct angle on every single nail.
When the hand is tense or held still:
📍 the tools don't glide as smoothly;
📍 there's a higher risk of touching the skin;
📍 it's harder to see the nail from every angle.

Every time I gently turn your hand, I'm seeing something different.
This helps me:
✨ build the correct nail architecture;
✨ create a perfectly straight light reflection;
✨ apply the product evenly;
✨ achieve a cleaner cuticle line; ✨ make the manicure look balanced and symmetrical.
If your hand stays tense or in one position, part of the nail simply isn't visible from the right angle. That can lead to uneven application, less precise detailing, or an imperfect finish.
So if I ask you to relax your hand, lower your fingers, or let me turn your wrist a few times during the appointment...
It's not a habit. It's professional technique.
These are the small details that make the difference between an average manicure and one you'll admire every time you look at your hands. 💅✨
My advice for clients:
✔️ Don't try to "help" by holding your hand rigidly—just relax.
✔️ If your technician turns your hand, it's because they're aiming for the best possible result.
✔️ Feel free to ask if your hand position is comfortable for them—a good professional will always appreciate it.
Have you ever noticed how often your nail technician turns your hand during a manicure?
😉 Now you know why!

Behind every beautiful manicure, there's a lot that clients never see.

Dozens of messages every single day.

"Can I book an appointment?"

"How much is a manicure?"

At first glance, these seem like simple questions. But in reality, they aren't.

Because every message leads to a long conversation.

When would you like to come?

What do you currently have on your nails?

What result are you hoping for?

Do you need removal?

What length do you want?

And between each reply, an hour... two hours... sometimes even a whole day goes by.

One conversation can easily turn into 20–30 messages.

The reality is that my hands are busy with clients for most of the day.

I can't constantly pick up my phone while I'm working. That's why I usually reply to messages either early in the morning or late in the evening before bed.

So I decided to create a system that saves time for both my clients and myself.

I created a short online consultation form for all new clients.

Think of it as a mini consultation before booking.

From your answers and photos, I can assess the condition of your nails, understand the look you'd like to achieve, recommend the most suitable products for your individual nails, calculate the correct price, and estimate how much time your appointment will require.

There isn't one simple answer to the question:

"How much does a manicure cost?"

Because no two clients are the same.

Everyone has different nails, different lifestyles, different expectations, and different products that will work best for them.

I don't work from a template.

I choose the best solution individually for every client.

That's why my clients receive not only beautiful nails on the day of their appointment, but also a manicure that lasts and performs well until their next visit.

Sometimes, spending just a few minutes on a proper consultation saves hours of messaging later and helps us find the best solution right from the start.

And honestly... I love working this way. ❤️
