One thing I’ve learned is that a treatment can be clinically appropriate, beautifully performed and still not be the right treatment for the person sitting in front of you.

Because there’s more to assess than anatomy.

What are they actually hoping to change? Why now? What does a “good result” look like to them?
And, importantly, can the treatment they’re asking for realistically deliver that?🤔💭

Sometimes that conversation confirms the plan. Sometimes it takes you in a completely different direction.

For me, that’s one of the most valuable parts of a consultation.

Not starting with “What can I do?” but taking the time to understand “What does this person actually need from me?”
