Karma is complicated. Tests have be faced. Victory is assured, but sometimes only after years, even lifetimes of determined effort. Ego wants things to be easy. Soul won’t settle for anything less than Truth Itself. Every saint, every Master, every Self-realized being assures us that the effort is worth the prize. And, after all, what choice do we have? We have to live anyway, why not live in the way that leads to Bliss?

Whatever we manage to accomplish outwardly in this world, lasts just a moment, compared to Eternity. Consciousness, however, is itself Eternal. It is the one constant throughout this life and in all the incarnations that came before, and may come after. It is not what we do in this world, it is how we do it. We are always being presented with a choice: to move toward greater awareness or to shrink back into limited consciousness. Pay attention to your choices. “Take care of the minutes,” Paramhansa Yogananda said, “and the incarnations will take care of themselves.”
