Yathaavat Aromatics at Aroma Mission 4.0 | CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow

We are pleased to share that the Yathaavat Aromatics team participated in the Scientist–Industry Meet under CSIR Aroma Mission, held at CSIR-CIMAP, Lucknow, marking discussions around Aroma Mission 4.0.

Aroma Mission is a visionary initiative led by CSIR with CSIR-CIMAP as the nodal centre, focused on advancing the aromatic and essential oils sector in India by strengthening cultivation, quality, processing, and market linkages. Phase IV of the mission will focus on crops that are widely imported — such as geranium, lavender, patchouli, citronella and salvia — and support solutions to replace imports with home-grown aromatic ingredients.

During the industry interaction, our team shared perspectives on how Aroma Mission I, II and III have contributed to the growth of the aromatics and essential oils industry—by empowering farmers, strengthening cultivation and distillation practices, improving quality, and building strong linkages between scientists, farmers, and markets.

We also shared our suggestions for CSIR Aroma Mission 4.0, including:
- Focus on market-linked cultivation and buy-back support to protect farmers from price instability

- Strengthen cluster-based distillation, storage & handling infrastructure

- Promote R&D co-development projects and new crop pilots

- Develop a national quality grading system for global acceptance

- Support export readiness, compliance and market access initiatives

- Build a digital knowledge & price-trend platform for all stakeholders

It was a valuable platform to exchange ideas & insights with scientists, industry leaders, researchers and fellow stakeholders on building a sustainable, transparent, and globally competitive Indian aroma sector.

We are grateful to CSIR-CIMAP and all CSIR institutes for creating this collaborative ecosystem and look forward to contributing actively to the journey of Aroma Mission 4.0.

- Provided Supply Chain support to our farmer clusters across India — including North-East & hilly regions
- Introduced new drums/containers for storage to improve oil quality & avoid contamination
- Built a new Nagarmotha oil cluster/sourcing base
- Purchased Lemongrass oil at a support price to help farmers sustain cultivation for the coming years
- Exhibited at Startup Conclave 2025 (CSIR-CIMAP, CSIR-NBRI, CSIR-CDRI, CSIR-IITR)
- Participated in 11 national & international industry events
- Expanded global collaborations in France, USA, UK, UAE & China
- Strengthened our domestic business relationships across India

Every step moved us closer to our mission of responsible sourcing, transparency, farmer support, and sustainable growth.
