- Colorism runs deep in our culture and history. This Campaign is to bring awareness to the biases of the beauty and the makeup industry in relation to the practice of discrimination by which those with lighter skin are treated more favorably than those with darker skin. We want to put all our efforts to change that, even if we can’t single handedly do so, we would like to know that we were a part of the ripple effect that helped in destroying these absurd prejudices. In India women are especially ostracised for their skin color- something so trivial. Unfortunately, most Indian girls are often told that they are ‘not that dark’ as a compliment or are forced to hear people give unsolicited opinions about how they could be so much prettier if they were lighter.

The world around us is moving forward with acceptance and growing wider with inclusivity. They slowly but surely are changing the perception of beauty or rather breaking traditional stereotypes related to beauty.
We at Beauty Buffet believe and know that no matter your shape, size, color, background or culture everyone is beautiful and should be accepted. With women’s worth so heavily tied to appearance and light skin so heavily tied to beauty standards, it is time for a change, big or small, and we want to be a part of this change! 🖤
