TRIKONASANA
Trikonasana is a universally important component of our yoga practice in helping us to practice most other asanas with greater ease and intelligence. One of the first standing poses that we learn, Utthita Trikonasana is iconic in its architectural structure. Tri means three and kona means angle and in the pose, we can see the formation of many triangles.
It teaches us how to extend the legs and is practiced as a preparatory pose for other challenging asanas and standing postures. We learn how to bear weight on a straight leg while keeping the thigh muscles engaged.
When done well, Trikonasana is stabilizing and freeing. We feel firmness in our legs, a lengthening of the spine, fullness in the chest, and freedom in the neck and shoulders. Trikonasana increases flexibility and strength in the legs and lower joints (ankles, knees, and hips) while extending the lower back.

PRASARITA PADOTTANASANA
Continuing the art of standing series, this is one of most challenging asanas to stay and relax especially for those who have stiff hamstrings and hips which most men usually do. The buttocks must be lifted up and in the center. The center of the arch of the foot must be pressed distributing the weight equally to all the four corners of the foot. This asana is practiced to tone the legs, open the hips and hamstrings and is usually practiced as a precursor to standing postures and inversions. It is preferred to rest the center of the forehead on the ground or a chair to obtain a relaxing effect.
Props are used according to the condition of individual and hence this asana has many variations with props.

TADASANA
Known as the mountain pose. This is one of the most difficult poses. It requires one's awareness to activate the legs( back of the knees ) and ribs. The stomach goes back supporting the spine and the diaphragm lifted upwards. The weight on one's feet must be paid attention to as well. Equal weight must be felt on the heels and toes and must be parallel to each other. It is the art of standing.
It tones the leg muscles and gives us a sense of poise.
This is a very important asana and is used as a reference for all the others asanas.
