Fifteen pottery workers died December 1907-November 1908 from silicosis, employees at Morrison Pottery grinding flint and mixing clay, fifteen workers exposed to silica dust daily for years creating ceramic products, developing symptoms December 1907 with persistent cough, chest pain, and breathing difficulty, experiencing progressive lung scarring as inhaled silica destroyed lung tissue, coughing blood as lungs deteriorated, dying sequentially December 1907 through November 1908 from respiratory failure and tuberculosis, pottery factory killing fifteen through silica dust exposure, industrial lung disease causing suffocation, fifteen dying over one year as scarred lungs failed from accumulated silica.
The pottery workers had been grinding flint stone and mixing clay 1902-1907, creating fine silica dust filling workspace, breathing crystalline silica particles that embedded in lungs, scar tissue forming around particles destroying lung function, first worker developing severe breathing problems December 15th 1907, coughing constantly, bringing up blood, diagnosis of silicosis from dust exposure, developing tuberculosis in damaged lungs, dying January 8th 1908 from respiratory failure, fourteen others showing identical symptoms through 1908, experiencing increasing breathlessness, coughing blood, unable to get adequate oxygen as lungs scarred, dying one by one December 1907-November 1908 from suffocation and secondary infections, fifteen deaths in one year from silica dust destroying lungs.
The photograph showed hospital ward November 30, 1908, final victims struggling to breathe with bloody coughs, the scene depicting silicosis deaths, how dust exposure destroyed lungs, victims showing respiratory distress, hospital representing where industrial lung disease killed, one year of sequential deaths, silica from pottery work scarring lungs, fifteen dying from dust-induced respiratory failure and suffocation.
All fifteen were buried December 1907-November 1908, pottery workers ages twenty-eight to fifty-four, individual funerals as each died, testimony describing flint grinding, dust exposure, breathing problems, deaths from silicosis, investigation finding pottery dust contained high silica levels causing progressive lung disease, Morrison Pottery facing liability for inadequate dust control, testimony revealing "They ground flint. Mixed clay. Breathed silica dust for years. Lungs scarred. Started coughing in December. Brought up blood. Couldn't breathe. Silicosis. Fifteen workers died. Over one year. The dust destroyed their lungs. They suffocated as lungs turned to scar tissue."
The photograph from November 30, 1908, captured silicosis victims with respiratory distress, showed pottery factory dust disease deaths, documented occupational lung destruction, evidence that pottery production created silica dust, that chronic inhalation caused progressive scarring, that coughing blood indicated advanced disease, that one year of deaths followed years of exposure, that respiratory failure and tuberculosis killed from lung damage, that fifteen pottery workers were exposed to silica dust 1902-1907 grinding flint and mixing clay, dust embedded in lungs causing scarring, first developed severe breathing problems December 15, 1907 with constant cough and bloody sputum, diagnosed with silicosis, developed tuberculosis in damaged lungs, died January 8, 1908 from respiratory failure, fourteen others developed symptoms through 1908 with increasing breathlessness and bloody coughs, died sequentially through November 1908 from suffocation and infection, pottery factory silica dust exposure killing fifteen workers, industrial lung disease from crystalline silica inhalation over years causing progressive scarring, fifteen dying within one year as destroyed lungs failed causing respiratory collapse and tuberculosis in silica-damaged tissue.
