Even before the pandemic, all my clients know that hygiene is an utmost priority for me. I wash my brushes and sponges with brush cleansing soap every time after use. I sanitize all my makeup tools and cosmetic products before applying to the client’s face. Everything has to be perfectly clean and germ-free.
Below are some of the guidelines that a Makeup Artist (MUA) should follow during this time of pandemic:-
▶️ MUA wear face mask and face shield while doing the makeup
▶️ MUA wash hands and use hand sanitizer before makeup session. I don’t believe in wearing gloves as it’s only protecting MUA but not the client. The best way is keep sanitizing your hands when you need to.
▶️ 99% IPA or Ethyl Alcohol must be used liberally to clean makeup palettes, brushes and tools before and after use.
▶️ All makeup tools must be washed every time after use. The same makeup palettes, mascara, eyeliner, or any cosmetic products that have direct contact with the face especially eyes, lips can only be reused again after 3 days and must be sanitized again before using.
▶️ A sanitized steel palette must be used for mixing up the products.
▶️ Extra care to be taken while using lip products – lip brushes must be washed and sanitized. No re-dipping of the used wand or a used brush into a liquid lipstick. Use disposable lip wands if possible. Lipstick must not be applied directly from the bullet.
▶️ No blowing on brushes or false lashes
▶️ The tissues, wet wipes, cotton and puffs must all be discarded well after use.
▶️ Hair brushes and hair tools should all be cleaned well too before and after use.
▶️ Hairstylists should also use masks and face shield.
As for the client, I would humbly request you to:-
🔻 Please make sure you have undertaken 14-day quarantine if you are from abroad or from other cities
🔻 Refrain from doing makeup if you are feeling unwell, having running nose, coughing or sneezing
🔻 Wear disposable robe provided by the MUA
Life will go on smoothly as long as we can adapt to all new norms. Stay safe everyone. 😷😘

😷😷When to use a mask😷😷
✅ If you are healthy, you only need to wear a mask if you are taking care of a person with suspected 2019-nCoV infection.
✅ Wear a mask if you are coughing or sneezing.
✅ Masks are effective only when used in combination with frequent hand-cleaning with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
✅ If you wear a mask, then you must know how to use it and dispose of it properly.
However, healthy people could wear masks in certain other situations, such as in crowded places like buses, commuter trains, subways, airports, planes.
⏬How to put on a face mask⏬
1️⃣ Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer before touching the mask.
2️⃣ Remove a mask from the box and make sure there are no obvious tears or holes in either side of the mask.
3️⃣ Determine which side of the mask is the top. The side of the mask that has a stiff bendable edge is the top and is meant to mold to the shape of your nose.
4️⃣ Determine which side of the mask is the front. The colored side of the mask is usually the front and should face away from you, while the white side touches your face.
5️⃣ Follow the instructions below for the type of mask you are using.
🔷 Face Mask with Ear loops: Hold the mask by the ear loops. Place a loop around each ear.
🔷 Face Mask with Ties: Bring the mask to your nose level and place the ties over the crown of your head and secure with a bow.
🔷 Face Mask with Bands: Hold the mask in your hand with the nosepiece or top of the mask at fingertips, allowing the headbands to hang freely below hands. Bring the mask to your nose level and pull the top strap over your head so that it rests over the crown of your head. Pull the bottom strap over your head so that it rests at the nape of your neck.
6️⃣ Mold or pinch the stiff edge to the shape of your nose.
If using a face mask with ties: Then take the bottom ties, one in each hand, and secure with a bow at the nape of your neck.
7️⃣ Pull the bottom of the mask over your mouth and chin.
⚠️How to remove a face mask⚠️
1️⃣ Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer before touching the mask.Avoid touching the front of the mask. The front of the mask is contaminated. Only touch the ear loops/ties/band.
2️⃣ Follow the instructions below for the type of mask you are using.
🔶 Face Mask with Ear loops: Hold both of the ear loops and gently lift and remove the mask.
🔶 Face Mask with Ties: Untie the bottom bow first then untie the top bow and pull the mask away from you as the ties are loosened.
🔶 Face Mask with Bands: Lift the bottom strap over your head first then pull the top strap over your head.
3️⃣ Throw the mask in the trash. Clean your hands with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
