Acne-prone skin needs consistency, not an overly complicated routine.
Gentle exfoliation, daily sun protection, non-comedogenic products, and proper cleansing can help keep breakouts under control. Just as important, avoid over-exfoliating, touching your face with unclean hands, sleeping with makeup on, and letting pillowcases go too long without washing.
The goal is to keep your skin clean without stripping or irritating the barrier. If your acne keeps returning or is becoming painful, consult a dermatologist for targeted treatment.

Using skincare actives too often can quietly stress the skin.
Most actives work by speeding up renewal or correcting a concern. When used too frequently, they can weaken the skin’s natural balance, leading to dryness, sensitivity, or sudden breakouts. This usually happens when actives are layered daily without enough recovery time.
Starting slow, spacing out active days, and allowing simple hydration in between helps the skin repair and adapt.
How do you usually space out your active days?

Your skincare can expire, even if there’s still plenty left in the bottle.
Changes in smell, colour, texture, or consistency can be signs that a product has degraded. Separation, hardening, lumps, or unexpected skin irritation are also reasons to stop using a product and check its expiry or PAO period.
Don’t rely only on how a product looks. Always follow the manufacturer’s expiry date and recommended storage instructions, especially for products containing active ingredients.
If a product suddenly starts irritating your skin or looks, smells, or feels different from when you opened it, it’s safer to stop using it.

Dark elbows and knees are common, but they’re not always caused by poor skincare.
Friction, repeated pressure, dry and thickened skin, post-inflammatory pigmentation, and sun exposure can all contribute to darker-looking elbows and knees. The answer isn’t to scrub harder. In fact, harsh scrubbing and over-exfoliation can increase irritation and make pigmentation more noticeable.
Focus on regular moisturisation, gentle exfoliation with ingredients like lactic or glycolic acid, and sunscreen on exposed areas. Give your skin time to respond and avoid picking or rubbing the area.
If the darkness appears suddenly, starts spreading, or looks thick and velvety, consult a dermatologist to rule out an underlying cause.

Not all acids work the same way, and choosing the right one depends on what your skin is dealing with.
Some acids help regulate excess oil without being overly harsh. Others are known to calm visible redness and support a more even-looking complexion. Certain formulas gently smooth bumpy texture, while some are better suited for addressing uneven pigmentation over time.
When acids are matched to the right concern, they work more effectively and with less irritation.
