One of the traditions on the first day of Diwali or the day of Narak Chaturdashi is to take bath with ubtan powder. It is said to enhance one's skin.

Ubtan contains coarsely powdered herbal ingredients that help to gently exfoliate the skin and remove layers of dead skin. The scrubbing action along with massage improves the texture of skin and leaves it soft. The abrasive action also helps to open the clogged pores on skin surface which helps the skin to breathe and thus appear supple and healthy.
