Every procedure begins the same way, by breaching the skin barrier.
And even healthy, intact skin carries resident microorganisms that can enter deeper tissues if not properly disinfected.

From injections and IV insertions to catheter placements and surgical interventions, pre-procedure skin antisepsis is not optional; it’s essential.
Sterile instruments alone cannot prevent infection if the first step is missed.

In infection control, what happens before the procedure defines what happens after.

Autoclaving is essential, but it’s not universal.

Many critical instruments, including endoscopes and flexible devices, cannot withstand high temperatures. Using the wrong method can lead to damage, reduced lifespan, and compromised performance.
That’s why cold disinfection protocols are a crucial part of modern instrument reprocessing.
Immersion-based high-level disinfection ensures effective microbial control while maintaining the integrity of delicate instruments.

Solutions like Korsolex® Rapid support this process by offering broad-spectrum efficacy and compatibility with both heat-sensitive and heat-resistant devices.
Because in infection control,
Choosing the right method is as important as choosing the right product.

Watch till the end to understand what your current protocol might be missing.

In infection control, accuracy matters as much as the product itself.

Incorrect dilution, skipped contact time, or improper usage can reduce the effectiveness of linen disinfection, increasing the risk of contamination.
That’s why standardised protocols are essential.

From 1% solutions for infected linen to 0.5% for non-infected linen, and a mandatory 30-minute pre-soak, every step plays a role in ensuring safe and effective disinfection.

Solutions like Linotox® are designed to support these workflows, but outcomes depend on how consistently protocols are followed.

Because in infection control, precision isn’t optional, it’s essential.

A nurse’s shift is not a sequence of tasks; it's a continuous flow of interactions.
Patient. Surface. Equipment. Patient again.

Each movement adds responsibility and exposure.
Infection control, in this reality, is not occasional. It’s constant. And its success depends on how well nurses are supported within their workflow.

This is what empowerment looks like, not recognition alone, but the ability to act safely, consistently, and without interruption.

This International Nurses Day, the message is clear:
Empowered nurses save lives.

Let us know which part of your shift involves the most repeated contact?

Empowerment in healthcare is often spoken about but rarely defined.

For nurses, it’s not just about recognition. It’s about having the right conditions to act consistently, quickly, and safely.

Infection control is a continuous process, built into every patient interaction. And in high-pressure environments, even the best protocols depend on how well they fit into real workflows.
Access to the right solutions. Speed that supports action. Ease that enables consistency. Tools that protect without slowing down care. This is what empowerment looks like in practice. Because when nurses are truly supported, infection prevention doesn’t rely on effort alone; it becomes part of the system.

This International Nurses Day, the focus is clear:
Empowered nurses save lives.

Most hantavirus infections occur when people inhale particles contaminated with infected rodent urine, saliva, or droppings. This remains the primary mode of transmission worldwide.

But what many people don’t know is that the Andes virus strain, found mainly in parts of South America—is different. Unlike most hantaviruses, it has shown rare but documented human-to-human transmission, particularly through close and prolonged contact with infected individuals. (World Health Organization)
This distinction is why the recent cruise ship outbreak drew global attention from public health authorities.
Another overlooked fact: hantavirus doesn’t usually spread through casual airborne transmission like COVID-19. In most cases, infection begins when contaminated dust particles become aerosolized during cleaning, sweeping, or disturbing enclosed spaces with rodent contamination. (World Health Organization)

Understanding how pathogens spread is the first step in preventing transmission before it begins.

Infection control doesn’t fail during procedures; it fails in the moments between them.

The transition from one patient to the next is fast, unstructured, and easy to overlook. Yet this is where contamination is most likely to occur, not because of a lack of awareness, but because these moments don’t feel like part of the protocol.
The reality is simple: it takes less than a minute to act, and that action can prevent transmission before it begins. But only when it happens at the right moment.

Let us know, in your daily practice, which moment feels the easiest to miss?

This Hand Hygiene Day, infection prevention is not about knowing the moments; it’s about acting on them.

In everyday clinical practice, these moments happen quickly and repeatedly. Between patients, before procedures, and after contact, each one is a decision point.

The right action, taken at the right time, can prevent transmission before it begins.
Because in infection control, timing is not a detail; it’s everything.

Which of these moments do you think is most often missed in real practice?
Tell us in the comments.

In healthcare, knowledge is rarely the limitation. Protocols are known. Guidelines are clear.

Yet infection control failures still happen, not because we don’t know what to do, but because action doesn’t always follow. Between patients, after contact, before procedures, these moments are quick, routine, and easy to overlook. But they are also where prevention begins.

This Hand Hygiene Day, the focus is simple: Action Saves Lives. Because in infection control, what you do and when you do it matters more than what you know.
In your experience, what makes consistent hand hygiene hardest to follow in daily practice?

Skin disinfection is often seen as a single step. In reality, it’s a continuous process.
It begins with rapid microbial reduction before a procedure and continues with sustained protection to prevent regrowth and contamination.

Effective solutions like Cutasept® F combine fast action with residual efficacy, supporting safer clinical outcomes.

Because even with sterile instruments, inadequate skin disinfection can introduce microorganisms into deeper tissues, leading to complications.
Swipe to understand what truly defines a high-standard skin disinfectant.
